6 June Wikipedia event

On 6 June 2015, a Wikipedia event will be held at Lytham library. It will focus on the artists and paintings of the Lytham St Annes Art Collection. The aim to be for the participants to learn how to create or improve articles in Wikipedia, and to learn what is appropriate for inclusion in Wikipedia and what is not.

The participants will include volunteers from the Tagging the Treasures project, which aims to catalogue, research, celebrate, and share information about the Lytham St Annes Art Collection, which includes paintings, sculptures, artefacts and furniture.

The following is a preliminary schedule for the day, although timings are subject to change on the day, depending on what the participants want to do.

  • 10:00 - Welcome and introduction in Lytham library
  • 10:10-11:00 - Presentation about editing Wikipedia (and Wikimedia Commons for uploading images).
  • 11:00 onwards - Editing session by participants, supervised by the Wikipedia experts
  • 15:00 - Suggested end time
