The first Thinktank, Birmingham editathon will be held at the museum on Saturday, 7 March 2015 (10-4.30), hosted by Wikipedian in Residence, Andy Mabbett, User:Pigsonthewing. All are welcome, but places are limited and so booking is required.

The museum have a page about the event.

Features[edit]

The focus will be on the museum's science and industry collection. We will have an exclusive preview of (and be able to photograph) exhibits recently acquired for the forthcoming new Spitfire Gallery, plus talks, and the opportunity to work with curators. Assistance will be available for new editors. Admission charges will be waived for participants.

Access[edit]

This is the venue

The Museum is in the Eastside district of Birmingham City Centre, England, walkable from New Street or Moor Street stations, Digbeth coach station, and city-centre bus stops for most people. There is cycle parking nearby and a pay-on-exit car park at the rear. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible (but please let us know if you require any special support). Assistance dogs are welcome.

What to bring[edit]

You can bring a laptop and use the venue's free Wi-fi, but we will be in a room equipped with internet-connected PCs. Photography will be allowed, so bring your cameras and tripods.

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements.

How to prepare[edit]

If you don't already have a Wikipedia account, please sign up for one. Make sure to bring a note of the account name and password, on the day!

You might like to research a topic to write about, but don't worry if you don't have time, or can't think of a subject. If it's a new article, it must meet our notability guidelines.

Check back here shortly before the event, for any last-minute notices.
