SVG Topo map of Tangier Island

Article(s)
Tangier Island
Request
I'm working on the Tangier, Virginia article, and I think a map would be a great addition to the "Geography" section. I've just about fallen in love with File:Topographic map of Surtsey-fr.svg, but the tutorial used to create it seems to use deprecated software (c. 2008) and is only translated so well into English by Google Translate. If there are any cartographers out there who would be able to provide me with a nice SVG topo map similar to the one linked (I can add place names and roads from an offline RS) for Tangier, I would be very grateful and certainly bestow them with a barnstar as a token of my appreciation. The trouble with that island is that it's flat and sinking (the highest elevation is just four feet). M.Bitton (talk) 17:09, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
Hmmm, yeah - that's true, a topo map might not be the best choice. Any sort of coloring (land use, perhaps?) would work. AviationFreak💬 20:45, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

There's a MOS:COLOR problem with this map (color alone is used to convey information), and on top of that, the green-and-red part of the map isn't accurate. Changing the red area to green will fix both problems (so that this becomes a species map rather than a subspecies map). Please don't delete this image file; it's currently in use in article-space ... just give the new image a new name. I'm only interested in the Canadian regions ... I'll be cropping it, so feel free to ignore or discard the US parts of the map. - - Dank (push to talk) 21:28, 8 October 2023 (UTC)

@M.Bitton: You usually handle my range distribution requests. This has been lingering awhile. Anything wrong? - UtherSRG (talk) 11:14, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
@UtherSRG: like I said to another editor, I just don't have the energy for these maps, but since you've been bumping the request for a while, I'll make an exception for this one. M.Bitton (talk) 16:07, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

You're welcome. I haven't completely given up, I'm just taking less requests than before. So to answer your question, I don't know, but I guess you can just make the requests as usual and, time permitting, I'll take the ones that I can. Best, M.Bitton (talk) 17:50, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

Improve oil and gas pipeline maps

Request
I drew the above maps myself (see their descriptions for my crude method) and used them on English Wikipedia, but have been told at tr:Tartışma:Türkiye'de petrol ve doğalgaz that they are not good enough for the above article on Turkish Wikipedia. Can you improve them? Perhaps the problem(s) are clear to you, but if not let me know and I will ask the person who said they are not good enough to explain details directly here as he has good English. Chidgk1 (talk) 18:38, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Also the Trans-Balkan pipeline now needs to be added to the gas map going north from Istanbul into Bulgaria https://aze.media/a-trans-balkan-pipeline-is-the-next-project-for-eus-accelerated-energy-cooperation-with-azerbaijan/ should I add that myself or would it be better for you to do it as I will doubtless struggle to make it look tidy? French and German speaker needed to check translation of Vatican City Map

Request
Commons:User:Goran tek-en is making new svg versions of the png maps above, and is seeking:
- 1 French speaker
- 1 German speaker
to do the following:
1. Proofread the existing French / German file above for any mistakes or missing translations (you can leave the road names in Italian).
2. Check if any of the buildings' names are outdated. You can refer to the English version for that (and translate those names yourself) or you can refer to an up-to-date multilingual map such as OpenStreetMap.
3. Write down what needs to be changed and post it in the corresponding discussion page:

where did you get those colours from? I can see the following:    (Inupiac),    (Inuviaaluktun),    (Inuktitut),    (Kalaallisut). M.Bitton (talk) 00:43, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
@M.Bitton: I got them using a color picker from image website, they would match up with    and   . – Treetoes023 (talk) 01:26, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
@Treetoes023: do you want Kalaallisut's colour to be the same as Inuktitut's? M.Bitton (talk) 01:29, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
@M.Bitton: Not quite, I want the color of Inuktun (which is currently Kalaallisut's color) to be changed to Inuktitut's color. – Treetoes023 (talk) 12:57, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
@Treetoes023: Is Inuktun the leftmost area of Kalaallisut's (separate from the rest)? M.Bitton (talk) 13:22, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
@M.Bitton: It's the brown one labelled "Avanersuaq" in this map if that helps. – Treetoes023 (talk) 13:27, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
@Treetoes023: I didn't intend on creating a new map (based on another unsourced one). If this isn't a simple case of replacing a colour for another, then I'll leave it to someone else. M.Bitton (talk) 13:33, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
@M.Bitton: It is just a color change, I was just showing you the other map because Inuktun is easier to see on that map and then you could look to see what distribution roughly matches with the one on the map I want you to edit. – Treetoes023 (talk) 14:50, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
@M.Bitton: Also, Inuktun is the leftmost area of Kalaallisut. I should have just said that to begin with. I'm in school right now so I wasn't completely paying attention sorry. – Treetoes023 (talk) 14:55, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

@Treetoes023: for some reason, Commons is not allowing me to overwrite it. M.Bitton (talk) 17:53, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
@M.Bitton: That's weird, do you know of any solutions? If you can't find a way to overwrite it you could email me the image and I could see if it would work with my account (I'll credit you in the edit summary ofc). – Treetoes023 (talk) 18:17, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
I will try again and if still doesn't work, I will upload it here under a different name. M.Bitton (talk) 18:19, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
I ended up uploading it under a slightly different name. Feel free to ask someone on Commons to merge the two. M.Bitton (talk) 18:44, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
@M.Bitton: Thank you, I'll propose a merger sometime later today. – Treetoes023 (talk) 19:07, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

This lovely and informative map has a big flaw. Unlike its Spanish version, the rectangles for heading (top left) and legend (botton right) render empty when using the image in articles or viewing it here, although it does render properly if you open the file fully (see here). Can somebody fix this? I can't. Much obliged. -- B. Jankuloski (talk) 11:32, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
