September 4

I uploaded this image directly from my camera and forgot to rename it. I have re-uploaded it at Image:New_York_Thruway_Toll_Ticket.jpg --Tckma 14:47, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Uploaded by Andrew777 (notify | contribs). Copyright violation. The picture has been taken from a newspaper, not a press kit as claimed in the fair use rationale. Irritatingly when a similar image was listed for deletion on 1st september 2006 (3 days ago) Andrew777 uploaded a replacement image from another newspaper. I don't seem to be able to get it through to him, so could someone else please explain to him why it is bad to upload copyright violations to wikipedia? But it's not News Ltd's intellectual property, so I'm unsure why it should be deleted. I don't know about police mugshot republishing rules, but the image distribution rights would originate with the NSW Police Media unit. Tale 01:35, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am responding to a message on my Talk Page about the photo; I uploaded this picture when I was very new to wikipedia and I cannot really even recall where it came from, but it is impossible to imagine that it isn't copyrighted and thus someone needs to identify the copyright holder, if it is to remain. But it seems my version was deleted once already and someone else uploaded a replacement. At any rate, it should be deleted probably. --Mikerussell 03:54, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Uploaded by Ex-Nintendo Employee (notify | contribs). Image:Gameboyline.jpg is vastly superior to this image. Image was created to apparently change the background, but this is done very sloppily; some of the Game Boys are colored over. Image is much smallzer in size than the original. Keep Despite what Hbdragon88 says, it is not neccesary to have a gargantuan image for what this image was created to do. It is meant to sit on the top of the Game_Boy_line page- the images are meant to demonstrate each system in the line, and, given that fact, the picture doesn't HAVE TO BE 115k and an enormous 1615x357 size- 566x107 should be large enough for any particular browser. Adding to that, each individual Game Boy is shown in higher detail, below on the page. Thus, if someone really wants a picture of any of the Game Boy line in huge detail, they can easily find it.
Furthermore, the image he is trying to put in its place is horribly stained, and I would rebut that IT is an inferior image and is very sloppily done. Seriously, all a person has to do is look at it to see the paint, red kool-aid and dirt stains all over the carpet on Image:Gameboyline.jpg. Not only that, but the image he is trying to enforce doesn't even show all the Game Boys in the series, leaving out the Play it Loud Game Boy. That makes the image HBDragon wants to enforce both unencyclopedic AND inferior, given the purpose of the image.
Nevertheless, I've uploaded a replacement for the file (using the same name) that has much more detail- 1990x378 and shows all the Game Boys in clear detail. That should solve any qualms he may have had about the image. Ex-Nintendo Employee 05:35, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't mind a small image if no other image existed, but we started off with a huge image that you tried to replace with s amaller one. I'd rather take the larger image. The small image is inferior because you can barely see the Game Boys and the Play It Loud one looks like an illustration. The new image is much better but still looks extrodinarily fake, the images now all looking cut-and-pasted onto a palette. Compare that to the original one, which looks like a real photograph and not so fakey looking. Anyway, I reiterate delete, as now I uploaded the image to the Commons under the filename of Image:Gameboyline2.jpg Hbdragon88 00:41, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Delete, redundant to Image:Gameboyline2.jpg. Conscious 17:57, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Uploaded by Ex-Nintendo Employee (notify | contribs). Image:Gameboyline.jpg is once again better than this image. This image is much smaller in resolution and file size. Background appears to be painted over, but this is done very sloppily; the blue Game Boy looks damaged, and not all of it is covered up. Hbdragon88 05:18, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Delete While I disagree with almost everything the nominee has said regarding quality of the image (a small crop is infinitely better than an image of a carpet covered in paint, kool aid and dirt AND the overarching image doesn't need to be gargantuan, given that each individual GameBoy is detailed more in the page), the original image has been replaced by a different image which renders it obsolete.
