Tool kit overview (google doc): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QcZL1-n6sLuk-u-GtP_RAsXh8IzYhTFlYrbe1K731os/edit

Notes and goals for the toolkit: For each of the material sets, organize into:

  • Instructional Strategies: Pedagogical focus on teaching strategies
  • Teaching Materials: Includes teaching materials (exercises, handouts, etc.)
  • Student Types: Medical, nursing, pharmaceutical, general health (grad/undergrad)
  • Course Types: student led, integrating directly into the curriculum, integrating it into post-doc or residency training (component where they share on social media; could include social media)
  • Delivery Mechanisms:
  • Resources to be populated into user friendly database (database to be identified)
  • Helping students select articles - which need improvement; and are balanced; issues that had research behind it (B-Class)/ balance this issue with student satisfaction
  • Organizing it across the across the continuum of medical education: undergraduate, 4th year, etc.

Notes:

  • In medicine: the moderating element is somewhat missing
  • Train the trainer component regarding to moderating and helping guide moderating
  • Understanding the guidelines (MEDRS, MEDMOS, MEDCOI)

July 29, 2019 Meeting- minutes and to-do list[edit]

John, Lauren, Kamran and Jenny (1-2pm EST)

1. We discussed the content of the project page and did some preliminary trouble shooting to improve readability between devices
2. It was decided that the project page would serve as a "tool kit" moving forward
3. Action Item: Kamran offered to double check that all the information from the previous google documents was transferred over to the tabs and that nothing is missing
4. Action Item: Reference List

The present reference list tab is a collection of all the references and information that we presently have.
(pre step 1: Jenny will verify the Mendeley group and ensure it is the proper format for sharing)
Step 1: re-run the search string for all databases listed and add these papers to Mendeley (note: a screen will need to be done at this stage to ensure that the papers are indeed related to Wikipedia and education)
Step 2: manually add in the references listed in the other sections of the Library of
References
tab (This will take some time as many may need to be added manually due to their formatting). There will most likely be significant overlap, Mendeley has a half-decent de-duping function, there are numerous guides available online for performing this task.
Step 3: Once we have a list of all the available publications you can export them into a spreadsheet and extract a list of DOIs and/or PMIDs. Jenny can add these into a citation list in the reference tab
Goal: Have this completed before November 2019

5. Add in introductory/descriptive paragraphs to the tabs of the project page (completed before November 2019)

  • Kamran:
Project Page (home)
Teaching Sites
SciScanner
  • Jenny:

6. Ongoing: Finish gathering site information and course materials.

  • Action Item: Kamran will be emailing Tina to touch base about her project, verify if the National Science Week 2019 project is hers, get an update on her plans, and see if we can support her efforts.
  • Also ask for her permission to share materials on the new project page and potentially share her contact info (not searchable by google)

7. Queen's Site: Jenny will be starting a WikiEdu Dashboard August 2019

  • Jenny will continue to update the Queen's project page leading up to the course
  • Heather has given permission to share her slides and 2019 notes in an open manner
