January 15 is known as Wikipedia Day to Wikipedians. On this date in the year 2001, the wiki-based Wikipedia project went public after spending five days on Nupedia.

Wikipedia Day 2010[edit]

A Wikipedia Day celebration was celebrated in Bangalore on Saturday January 16, 2010.

Intended Audience[edit]

The event is intended for the following:

  • General public - anyone interested or curious about Wikipedia or Wikimedia.
  • Wikipedia users - current users of Wikipedia or any Wikimedia projects.
  • Wikipedians - Contributors to Wikipedia content in all languages. (This is not a English Wikipedia event alone)
  • Indian Language specialists and those working on Computing in Indian languages.

This is a free event and open to all.

Getting there[edit]

Directions to Cunningham road

  • From Shivaji Nagar Bus stand , come to Indian Express Bus Stop Junction, and go straight to Cunningham Road.
  • From Vidhan Soudha/GPO come directly to Indian Express Bus Stop Junction from there left turn into Cunningham Road.

Directions from Cunningham road to Venue

On Cunningham Road, about half a kilometre from the Indian Express Junction, Center for Internet and Society (CIS) is located behind Wockhardt Hospital (on the same building). This building is right next to Sigma mall.

You will need to walk to the rear of the Wockhardt building and get to the 3rd floor.
