This hackathon/Edit-a-thon, hosted by HowlRound and the New England New Play Alliance is focusing on New England playwrights and New England theatre companies who produce and develop new plays.

The New England New Play Alliance and HowlRound are co-hosting this Wikipedia Hackathon, focusing on New England playwrights and New England theatre companies who produce and develop new plays. Join us in this effort! We welcome all open knowledge enthusiasts and theatre-people. We will introduce you to the basics of editing Wikipedia and walk you through adding citations before moving to an open editing session. We have identified suggested articles to edit, as well as suggested sources, but we encourage you to edit pages that interest you!

About us

HowlRound, part of Emerson College is a free and open platform for theatremakers worldwide that amplifies progressive, disruptive ideas about the art form and facilitates connection between diverse practitioners. The New England New Play Alliance works to bring together the collective energy and resources of new play producers and developers in New England to:

  • Grow audiences for new plays.
  • Encourage more new play development and production.
  • Spread the word outside of Boston about plays/playwrights from Greater Boston/New England

If possible, create a Wikipedia username ahead of time. If you can't, no problem. We will help you!

  • 1:00 pm – 1:10 pm: Welcome
  • 1:10 pm – 1:30 pm: Intro to editing Wikipedia
  • 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm: Open editing
