GANGGANG and Black Lunch Table (BLT) in partnership with Wikimedians of Indiana have joined forces to host an "Underrepresented Artists" Edit-a-thon during BUTTER Fine Art Fair in Indianapolis.

Black Lunch Table [BLT] is a radical archiving project that illuminates stories of Black people. Black artists are often among those whose voices and visions are often marginalized or overlooked within the broader art world. Butter Fine Art fair gives a platform to underrepresented artists, who are individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, gender, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. This collaboration will highlight artists who frequently confront systemic barriers, such as limited access to resources, fewer opportunities for exposure, and a lack of representation in major institutions and media. Despite these challenges, their work often brings fresh perspectives and innovative approaches, enriching the artistic landscape with unique narratives and styles that might otherwise be underappreciated. By highlighting and supporting underrepresented artists, we not only broaden our understanding of art but also foster a more inclusive and equitable creative community.

Participants must purchase a ticket to BUTTER Fine Art fair to access this event. Stay for an hour, stay for the long haul. Team up with others or work on your own. Librarians and other experts will be available to assist you. On the day of the event, we’ll provide research materials and step-by-step instructions for editing Wikipedia pages.

Be sure to review this Meetup page before the event, we’ll provide more information and highlights for the day.
