UMass Lowell Fall 2012 Edit-a-thon -
UMass Lowell Fall 2012 Edit-a-thon' is November 13! This edit-a-thon will focus on entries related to the themes, locations and people found in Andre Dubus' memior Townie. This is the English Department Common Text title for Fall 2012. Wikipedians of all experience levels are encouraged to participate. Event Details

The Libraries at University of Massachusetts Lowell is hosting its first ever Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon focusing on articles related to Andre Dubus III's memoir Townie, the Common Text for Fall 2012.

WHO: Any students, faculty, staff or community member interested in editing or learning how to edit Wikipedia. Limited to 30 participants; please register before Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

WHAT: Creating and expanding existing Wikipedia pages about themes, people or places found in Andre Dubus' memior Townie. Participants will set up individual Wikipedia accounts, learn how to write an article, and then use University Archives resources to write and edit articles.

WHEN: Tuesday, November 13 2012, 5:30 P.M.-8:30 P.M. Snacks will be provided.

WHERE: O'Leary Library's Lab (room 140) on South Campus: 160 Wilder St.

WHY: To learn more about editing Wikipedia, finding sources and writing for a specific audience.

OTHER: Please bring your laptop (if you have one) since you will be asked to create a Wikipedia account if you do not already have an account (you are not required to have an account before participating).
