Wikipedia:Online Ambassadors/Apply/Ankit Maity

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The following discussion is preserved as an archive of a unsuccessful Online Ambassador application.

After running for three weeks, I am closing this application as unsuccessful. Over the summer and through the fall try writing some more content and working with the Wiki Guides. If you do that I think there is a good chance you may be accepted in December for the spring term. (non-admin closure) Guerillero | My Talk | Review Me 19:41, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Why do you want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador?
I want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador because I want to help out members those who are new to Wikipedia. And also advise and help out all people new or old if they ask me.
  2. In three sentences or less, summarize your involvement with Wikimedia projects.
I have been actively making English Wikipedia better by contributing to it. I hope to have a steady progress like it in the future and make Wikipedia the best free encyclopedia ever as far as I can do.
  3. Please indicate a few articles to which you have made significant content contributions. (e.g. DYK, GA, FA, major revisions/expansions/copyedits).
Some are Berhampur, AmigaDOS, BMW N47, etc.
  4. How have you been involved with welcoming and helping new users on Wikipedia?
I use Twinkle to welcome new users from the list at User creation log according to their time and date they registered.
  5. What do you see as the most important ways we could welcome newcomers or help new users become active contributors?
We can introduce several systems like Q&A websites like Yahoo! Answers, WikiAnswers, etc. And also forum for fun stuff and inviting new users and tell their new experience on Wikipedia.
  6. Have you had major conflicts with other editors? Blocks or bans? Involvement in arbitration? Feel free to offer context, if necessary.
Till now I only had one minor conflict with ShelfSkewed, had no block or bans till now, no involvement in arbiration.
  7. How often do you edit Wikipedia and check in on ongoing discussions? Will you be available regularly for at least two hours per week, in your role as a mentor?
I am almost active on Wikipedia everyday except when on a vacation, preparing for exams or other issues. I sit on Wikipedia at least 1 hour everyday except the times listed above as exceptions. And I sit 2 hours on Saturday and Sunday.
  8. What else should we know about you that is relevant to being a Wikipedia Ambassador?
I am a rollbacker and reviewer. And I have recently applied for AutoWikiBrowser. Even if I don't become a ambassador I understand. I also review Good Article Nominations frequently.
