  1. Why do you want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador?
    I am editing in 22 languages, but en-wiki is my first (116 000 edits in all projects, but 68 000 edits - en-wiki).
  2. In three sentences or less, summarize your involvement with Wikimedia projects.
    I have GA-articles in three languages, FA-articles only on pl-wiki. I'v created more than 3000 articles in 22 languages.
  3. Please indicate a few articles to which you have made significant content contributions. (e.g. DYK, GA, FA, major revisions/expansions/copyedits).
    I'm part of 9 WikiProjects: WikiProject Bible, WikiProject Religious texts, WikiProject Biography, WikiProject Film, etc. Some articles: Codex Sinaiticus, Codex Alexandrinus, Codex Boreelianus, Vladimir N. Beneshevich, Bernard de Montfaucon.
  4. How have you been involved with welcoming and helping new users on Wikipedia?
    Adding template "welcome" on their talk-pages (maybe 20 or 30 times?); formatting articles by adding links, references...
  5. What do you see as the most important ways we could welcome newcomers or help new users become active contributors?
    I saw many users on several wikis who left project because one of their articles was deleted. I saw many users who left project after receiving the first ban. It is difficult to help in these situations, but I tried several times (mailing).
  6. Have you had major conflicts with other editors? Blocks or bans? Involvement in arbitration? Feel free to offer context, if necessary.
    Conflicts - rarely, only with users who made uncyclopedic edition - e.g. Zapihanha, or with users who prefer the 19th century books (Schaff, Parsons, Newman) as only reliable source. Bans I have received only on pl-wiki (7 days, 7 days) and cs-wiki (5 minutes - they have different rules than other wikis). Second ban on pl-wiki was a result of edit war. The first? I did not know rules as a newcomer (it was three years ago). On en-wiki I have rarely contact with users who prefer the 19th century books.
  7. How often do you edit Wikipedia and check in on ongoing discussions? Will you be available regularly for at least two hours per week, in your role as a mentor?
    It is possible, but not in every week.
  8. What else should we know about you that is relevant to being a Wikipedia Ambassador?
    New kind of experience... I am still thinking about it.

  • Very impressive set of contributions. Maybe you could elaborate more on how regularly you could check in on students if you were a mentor. If it wouldn't work to be a reliable mentor for the full term -- a week is a long time to wait when someone is looking for help -- then perhaps you could join as a general ambassador without directly serving as a one-on-one mentor for any students.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 14:34, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
From time to time I need a wiki-break (3, 5, or even 7 days), but not often. Between 1-8 August 2010 I did not edited. Leszek Jańczuk (talk) 15:51, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Cool.
