Animated horse

Rotoscoping is a technique where animators trace live action movements, frame by frame, for use in animated films. Shown here is an animated cartoon of a galloping horse produced by rotoscoping based on Eadweard Muybridge's pioneering 19th century photographs. The animation consists of 8 drawings, which are "looped", i.e. repeated over and over.
