Angel of Death (song)[edit]

Really short article, completely rewritten by myself. I want to bring it up to GA. Thanks M3tal H3ad 07:28, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comments;
Article doesn't mention that the song contributed to Columbia Records refusing to release Reign in Blood.
Article doesn't mention that Hanneman went on to write songs like SS-3, which was about Reinhard Heydrich.
Article doesn't deal with notable cover versions of the track, and how these covers were critically recieved.
Recent song "Jihad" was compared to Angel of Death by band members in terms of its controversiality. This should be mentioned also.
Article could do with an audio sample.
Notable live renditions of the song? What singles have live versions of the song appeared on, and what live albums? Can you find critical reviews which specifically mention live versions of the song?

PopMatters review of Soundtrack of the Apocalypse says; "There's no better song to kick things off than the masterful "Angel of Death", one of the most monumental songs in metal history, where guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman deliver their intricate riffs, drummer Dave Lombardo performs some of the most powerful drumming ever recorded, and bassist/vocalist Tom Araya screams and snarls his tale of Nazi war criminal Joseph Mengele." This could be integrated somewhere.
Apocalyptica interview where one of them says; "I personally would love to play "Angel of death". LuciferMorgan 00:12, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
IGN review of Still Reigning comments as regards Araya / Angel of Death; "As for the band, well, like I pointed out in my review of their over live DVD War at the Warfield, age is beginning to creep on them, particularly bassist/vocalist Tom Araya. He can't hit the piercing shriek that opens "Angel of Death" any more or at the end of "Necrophobic."". LuciferMorgan 03:15, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
