Wikipedia:Peer review/La Sombra (wrestler)/archive1

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've listed this article for peer review because I have put in a lot of work on this over the years since i originally created it. I want to mae sure the will exemplify the type of Wikiepdia articles i would want to read myself. English is not my native language and know that i personally struggle with English grammar and punctuation at time so that is where i need the most help. My hope that this will become Featured Article and help share my love if Lucha Libre with fellow wikipedians. I will take any and all suggestions from those kind enough to help out. If you give input and have an article listed for peer review i.will give you my two cents in return (exchange rate may make my input worth more or less than that ;-).

And first thing i will do is run through all the tool feedback this page has to offer.

Thanks in advance,  MPJ-US  21:20, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • No time for a full review this week, but please source everything in the In wrestling section. In the Championships and accomplishments section, source Torneo Corona, CMLL Technico of the Year (2010) and CMLL Trio of the Year (2010). starship.paint ~ KO 08:21, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • honestly the "signature move" section is my least favorite part of our standard, just a junkyard for moves people see him use in a few matches, i trimmed it once, may trim it more. And thank you  MPJ-US  09:02, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Starship.paint: Sourced the championship section, cut down the clutter in the "signature" section, that section quickly ends up being "on he used a suplex 3 times, put it in" - using it and being a "signature" is different to me.  MPJ-US  02:10, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely. WrestlingData lists six. Do they seem accurate? I'm not familiar with the guy. InedibleHulk (talk) 12:23, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@InedibleHulk: Looking at those six, yes he uses those on a regular basis but to me that is not "signature", i mean the Huracanrana is the Mexican version of an arm drag, tons of people do them but they are not Ricky Steamboat you know? I think the reduced list is okay, i kept a few since a recent article listed them as moves "Atlantis should watch out for".
Yeah, that makes sense. Those tornado DDTs have gotten common as dirt, too. Five's a nice, neat number. I'll trust you know which five work best. It's a bit weird to hear Atlantis is still in recent articles at all. Good for him, though. I liked him back in the VHS days, have barely seen him since the YouTube days. I'll give him another look, I guess. His Wiki article has definitely gotten fat, if you feel like chopping up some more paragraphs. InedibleHulk (talk) 23:17, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Atlantis is still aground, fighting La Sombra or his mask on Friday actually. He may be my next focus article, not sure yet. MPJ-US  23:34, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah, I see it now. Looks important. Go Atlantis! InedibleHulk (talk) 18:09, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations to Atlantis, and to masked crimefighter/fighter Phoenix Jones, for making a legit finishing move out of a common non-flying headscissors. And props to Justin Gaethje for the modified 720 moonsault off the cage. Good night for all sorts of wacky lucha. InedibleHulk (talk) 17:00, 19 September 2015 (UTC) [reply]
That moonsault off the cage thing is catching on in MMA, oddly enough. Another undefeated fighter botched it up a notch this Friday and nailed the camerawoman. Damn cool spot. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:59, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just at a glance, some paragraphs are enormous, especially in the CMLL section. If those were split into New Japan-sized chunks, they'd be less intimidating. A break after each general idea. For example, the starting bit about his gimmick and name is distinct from his rise up the ranks, so a break after "his father's mask." Then before "The following month...", because we're not reading about the tournament anymore. And so on. InedibleHulk (talk) 12:16, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nice and bite-sized. Good stuff. InedibleHulk (talk) 23:17, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The mask loss and revelation of his real name is why I have held off on any GA nominations, I will keep the peer review open a bit longer for additional feedback, thank you everyone that has participated so far. MPJ-US  21:20, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Closing this, thank you to everyone who gave input.  MPJ-US  01:36, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
