Hi Aknell4, thanks for submitting this article to Peer Review. I suggest that you nominate this article to good article status before nominating it to FA. It is easier to fulfil GA's criteria and it is a great place to get feedback on your article.

After doing a skim of the article, I noticed a couple concerns, outlined below:

  • Every paragraph needs a citation at the end, at a minimum. This allows you to fulfil FA criteria 1c. Controversial sentences will also require a citation.
  • The article's history section doesn't have post-2014 events. I would expect information about the renovations currently happening on Parliament Hill.
  • There are some sentences that need more of an explanation. For example, "and by the mid-19th century the hill had lost its strategic importance." Why did it lose strategic importance? "Governor General Sir Edmund Walker Head was approached to break the stalemate" Why was there a stalemate? These kinds of explanations help expand the article.

This article has some really great information, but needs some improvements to become FAC. I see in the article's history that you haven't edited the article yet, so I look forward to seeing what you do to improve the article. Happy editing! Z1720 (talk) 21:09, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Z1720: Thank you for your advice! I've added information on the renovations, explained some ambiguous sentences, and was able to get references to end all but 1 body paragraph (the paragraph I wasn't able to finish with a citation was a physical description of the buildings and I wasn't able to track down a source for that). I've set my sights to GA status for now. --Aknell4 (talkcontribs) 02:10, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Z1720: Thank you for your feedback! I've tried to implement your suggestions into the article. Are there any other areas in the article that need attention before I sent it to GAN? --Aknell4 (talkcontribs) 15:31, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The first paragraph in "Grounds and name" needs a citation at the end.
You can consider requesting a copyedit at WP:GOCE. They are amazing at improving the prose and pointing out places that you might need more information.
Avoid statements like "As of May 2021," because they become outdated and need to be replaced. Instead, give the date of when the renovations were completed. (Something like "Renovations on xxxx were completed on yyyy"
I've only done a skim, so I don't know if more needs to be done. However, most GAN reviewers are amazing and will give feedback on how to get it to GA status. Re-read WP:GA? and check to make sure the article meets that criteria. Good luck! Z1720 (talk) 20:17, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for your help! I will close this peer review now. I'll request a copyedit be done and then I'll send it off to GAN. --Aknell4 (talkcontribs) 20:49, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
