Bug with wxmaxima

[edit]

Hi, kubuntu linux. I have downloaded wxmaxima, a graphical front-end for maxima. While maxima works fine, wxmaxima is difficult to use because the keyboard does not seem to work properly. The software seems to ignore alternate key presses. This is repeatable and reliable. What gives? Robinh (talk) 03:22, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This question is very specific, I suggest asking it in the project forums: [1]. ☃ Unicodesnowman (talk) 10:21, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I can picture how such a bug would get in the program. Start with code like this:
READ KEYSTROKE
SEND KEYSTROKE TO FUNCTION A
REPEAT
Then they decided they also wanted to send the keystroke to FUNCTION B (maybe to record it), too, but instead of just copying the SEND KEYSTROKE TO FUNCTION A part and modifying it, they ended up with:
READ KEYSTROKE
SEND KEYSTROKE TO FUNCTION A
READ KEYSTROKE
SEND KEYSTROKE TO FUNCTION B
REPEAT

You could use something like ../images/a.jpg. The ../ means go up one directory. --Bavi H (talk) 02:16, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
What have you tried? Unless your site configuration is exotic, beginning the address with a slash, as in <img src="/images/foo.png">, should re-base it to public_html. —Tamfang (talk) 06:13, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Using real-sounding pen names on Quora?

[edit]

I am bothered by the fact that Quora expects people to use their real names. I have been on the Internet since 1997, and ever since then, I never use my real names, except for billing purposes and for professional purposes. So, I always use a real-sounding pen name that is also a pun. I also don't create accounts on different websites with the same username, because I don't want to create associations that people may use when they look me up in a search engine. Is it okay to use a real-sounding pun name, or will Quora ban me because of its perceived ridiculousness (i.e. Dewinter Mellon, Walter Mellon, Oprah Tune Nutty)? 140.254.136.182 (talk) 22:16, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Quora also allows questions and answers to be given anonymously. Is it really anonymous to everybody or just to you? 140.254.136.182 (talk) 22:22, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

SpillNow allows signing up independently or signing up with Facebook. There was one time when I made an account there on the incentive that doing peer counseling would grant me community service hours. Although I signed up with Facebook, and the website said they would never post to Facebook, I am still concerned about what the "Post as..." is supposed to mean. In any case, I used a pen name again, and often stayed anonymous, while my account name was my real name. How would that work out? 140.254.136.182 (talk) 22:29, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
