MediaWiki

Is MediaWiki is downloadable to computer system? How about experimenting this software off-site in my private computer? The Supermind (talk) 20:38, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Download and install instructions are at [1]. It seems you will also need a webserver and database server set up. If you don't want to do this all yourself, there is a link to some hosting services that offer "1-click" setup. RudolfRed (talk) 21:42, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Other wikis are available, for instance DokuWiki which is simpler to set up and run for small installations. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 21:58, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You can install a XAMPP/LAMP stack on your computer to turn it into a barebones webserver. Or you can install the stack in a virtual machine if you don't want to worry about security risks and don't need access from other computers for your experiments. IIRC Ubuntu Linux has an option to install LAMP during the OS install process. Elephas X. Maximus (talk) 20:20, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
