[edit]

a simple (layman's) definition of neuromorphic computing?

[edit]

what is it?

and what is its technological purpose ?

It is the use of electronic circuits ("chips") that are supposed to mimic (imitate) the way the neurons in animal brains process signals; see Neuromorphic engineering. It is one of many instances where engineers draw inspiration from nature. There is a scientific purpose: to better understand how the brain works. An implicit technological purpose is to use such understanding in developing more efficient electronic circuits, or, more generally, technology enabling far more efficient computation for certain types of tasks. Fulfilling the promise of this technological purpose is still a distant dream.  --Lambiam 22:33, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
