KTAZ Telemundo Phoenix, AZ

[edit]

Is this station still on-air in Phoenix as an owned & operated Telemundo station? If not, what happened? If not, does Telemundo broadcast on another station in Phoenix? Aundreaw (talk) 17:21, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This page at the NBC Universal website indicates that KTAZ is the sole Telemundo outlet in Phoenix, but I don't see any dates on there, so there's always a chance the information has changed. --LarryMac | Talk 19:12, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't find a website for KTAZ, and I get conflicting info as to whether it's channel 39 in Tucson or Channel 25 in Phoenix, or vice versa, and neither city's major newpapers have anything in their searchable archives for KTAZ. If they exist, they do a good job of hiding it. Corvus cornixtalk 00:13, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the FCC website, I find a database query form here. This database says that KTAZ is channel 39 in Phoenix and does indeed belong to NBC Telemundo. Their transmitter is at 33° 20' 3" N, 112° 3' 38" W, which according to Google Maps is on TV Road in South Mountain Park in Phoenix. They have other applications relating to the same site and a construction permit for a digital TV transmitter on channel 11 to be placed between Holbrook and Phoenix. Of course this doesn't prove that the station actually is currently operating. But a Google News search for "KTAZ" and "Phoenix" turns up this story from November 28, identifying its news producer in the present tense; so apparently it is. --Anonymous, 07:00 UTC, December 15.
