Monk Season 2 Episode 11: Mr. Monk & the 3 Pies

[edit]

Hello, I couldn't understand some of the events in Monk Season 2 Episode 11. When Pat van Ranken wins the 2nd Pie, Monk & Sharona realize that Pat van Ranken isn't eating the 2nd Pie. Pat van Ranken's actually digging through the 2nd Pie.

Is someone able to answer my following questions about Monk Season 2 Episode 11? Does Captain Stottlemeyer believe that Pat van Ranken WAS NOT eating the 2nd Pie? Even though Monk & Sharona saw Pat van Ranken digging through the 2nd Pie, does Stottlemeyer believe that Monk & Sharona are having hallucinations?(76.20.90.53 (talk) 00:06, 18 January 2012 (UTC)).[reply]

It seems to me that whether one is eating a pie or digging through it is a matter of interpretation, so they could all witness the same event and see it differently, without any hallucination required. StuRat (talk) 08:33, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh my gosh! If someone saw Monk Season 2 Episode 11, then is someone able to answer my following questions? When Monk & Sharona tell the Captain that Pat Van Ranken was digging through the 2nd Pie, does the Captain believe them & does the Captain feel Suspicious? If the Captain believes that Pat Van Ranken was digging through the 2nd Pie, then why does the Captain refuse to go to Pat Van Ranken's house?(76.20.90.53 (talk) 23:00, 19 January 2012 (UTC)).[reply]

He might not believe Monk, but I see no reason why he wouldn't trust Sharona. Still, pie abuse is not a felony (unless maybe it's Kim Jong-un's pie), so he has no grounds for accosting a person. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:29, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Australian TV shows/movies for teens

[edit]

Hi I'm an American doing research on Australian teen media and I'm looking for titles so I can idivually do research on the shows and films, thanks so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.107.206.236 (talk) 01:20, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Any particular vintage? And any particular age group, in that there's some titles aimed at pre-teens/young teens, some at older teens? I'd say start with perennial favourites Neighbours and Home and Away which have both been running for around 25yrs; while not exclusively aimed at teens, I'd suggest that's the key demographic (esp. Home and Away). Something like The Saddle Club is probably aimed at a slightly younger demographic. Others come and go; check the categories at the bottom of the articles. In terms of movies I'd say we don't do a lot of specifically teen movies - importing them from America is far easier. Possibly the classic Australian teen movie is Puberty Blues, dating from the early 80s. Samson and Delilah (2009 film) would be about the most critically acclaimed recent example, though not intended to be about a 'typical' Australian teen experience as such. --jjron (talk) 03:12, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For film and TV, you can use the IMDb advanced title search[1]. Select country of origin "Australia" and keyword "teen", and you can set a date range (e.g. from 2000). This throws up results such as TV shows H2O: Just Add Water, Pirate Islands, and Guinevere Jones and films including The Loved Ones (2009), Hey Hey It's Esther Blueburger, Tan Lines, Blurred. --Colapeninsula (talk) 15:05, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

fia gt

[edit]

does any one know if fia's gt1 cars use abs and traction control or not? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.35.34.12 (talk) 05:41, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mean Fiat ? StuRat (talk) 08:25, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, I guess you don't, here's a site with that name: [2]. StuRat (talk) 08:29, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As StuRat has ascertained, the OP is asking about the GT1 World Championship series administered by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). I can find no mention of either system in the lengthy Official Regulations, so would assume they are permitted. GT1 is the successor to the FIA GT Championship, which included both GT1 and GT2 specification cars, and whose article describes it as having being for cars:
"based on production road car designs, which must be produced in a minimum quantity of 25 examples to qualify. Both types may undergo significant modifications from the road car they are based on, but GT1 allows the use of exotic materials, better aerodynamics, larger brakes, wider tires and larger engine admission restrictors."
This wording implies that both Anti-lock braking system and Traction control system would have been permitted, and from this and the GT1 regulations linked above, it seems almost certain that they are allowed in the current incarnation also (as removing them from a "production road car" would be a considerable undertaking). As the OP probably knows (hence the question), both are excluded by the current regulations of the better known FIA Formula One series, although they were significantly developed for and used in that series. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.197.66.192 (talk) 09:05, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Need a good suggestion for a battle dubstep song... (Borderlands example)

[edit]

I'm looking for a good dubstep song that would make sense in a serious battle situation. What i am thinking about is in the game borderlands, with their DLC, there is an arena you can go to and play several rounds of battle with enemies, with 5(?) waves of enemies each round. The last wave in each round is always a boss wave and there is a really awesome dubstep song that plays when you fight these.

I am looking for similar songs that i can use in place of the default "Tank" sound in Left4Dead2. Thanks in advance ;)

Here's a link to explain what "dubstep" means, in case anyone else is as baffled as I was. StuRat (talk) 07:01, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wow... sorry i wasn't aware of the possibility that alot of users wouldn't know what this genre is. 137.81.118.126 (talk) 07:53, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I would check out Skrillex's new EP Bangarang. Not exclusively dubstep, and a touch commercial but at volume it will reach out of the screen and pull your face through your ears. FreeMorpheme (talk) 21:40, 20 January 2012 (UTC) EDIT: I should of course acknowledge the fact that if you are keen on dubstep you might well be of the opinion that Skrillex is the Devil, in which case please ignore this comment. But if you are a casual dubstepper, then give it a go. FreeMorpheme (talk) 21:46, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The University of Alabama has a long & rich history playing college football. At one time, I believe, the helmets had the same numeral on it as the jersey worn by a player. Now, however, all Alabama logos on merchandising material has the number thirteen. I do not know the histor or why. Someone, without a doubt will know the facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roland Spa (talkcontribs) 19:58, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The number corresponds to the number of national championships the school has claimed over the years. This upcoming season it will change from 13 to 14 to reflect winning this year's national championship game. --McDoobAU93 20:34, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The helmets worn by the actual team still bear the players' jersey numbers. I suspect the common number for merchandising is to simplify mass production, and 13 was chosen for the reason McDoob mentioned. (There are places where you can custom-order whatever number you want.) — Michael J 22:49, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

looking for poem

[edit]

Anyone know what this poem was, I think it was african or something, where people are being taken away one by one, and the narrator does nothing because it wasn't his problem, until at last there comes a knock on his door...

148.197.81.179 (talk) 20:19, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe you're thinking of the one about "such and such happened and I was not a part of so and so, so I did not object... and then they came for me, and there was no one left to object." I associate that with Nazi Germany, and I think it's on wikipedia somewhere. I'll take a look. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots20:30, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's discussed in First they came…. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots20:32, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm sure that's not it, there was definitely a knock on the door, and it was a lot longer. Sorry. 148.197.81.179 (talk) 20:38, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Much the same idea, anyway. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots20:52, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm almost certain you're looking for the poem Not My Business by Niyi Osundare. 192.84.79.2 (talk) 12:10, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Learned something. Kittybrewster 08:17, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
