Tembekile Locke[edit]

the name Tembekile is a Southern African name. According to what i just read on wiki there is no mention of her ever staying in Africa. what is the connection? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.46.30.43 (talk) 09:37, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

According to Tembi Locke's own website: "Born to civil rights activist parents in Houston, TX, Tembi was named by legendary South African folksinger and activist Miriam Makeba. Her name, Tembekile, means 'trustworthy'.” [1] ---Sluzzelin talk 11:18, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to watch Tri orisky pro Popelku with English speak-over. Is it possible please? Kittybrewster 13:31, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This image from IMDB suggests to me it is available on DVD in English. I don't know whether that is dubbed or subtitled. Astronaut (talk) 16:29, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And this page suggests the Czech DVDs have English subtitles while the German DVD's don't. Amazon.com has it in Czech with English subtitles from a 3rd party seller on this page. Astronaut (talk) 16:54, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Film success relative to budget[edit]

What was the film that gain the most success in the first weekend in the US box office, relatively to the film's budget? I mean, the best return on investment after the first weekend. 84.110.213.252 (talk) 17:07, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you mean as a percentage return, then probably The Blair Witch Project, depending on which source you believe for its budget and whether you mean limited opening or wide release opening. From [2], it's budget of $60,000 had a return of 29 millon. RudolfRed (talk) 23:59, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That was my first thought also. But was that 29 million for just the first weekend?Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 21:19, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It did have the most extraordinarily enormous amount of hype, at least before it hit our screens here. Never was so much hype shed for a film that was so unworthy of any of it. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 21:25, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The Blair Witch Project had an initial budget of somewhere between $20,000-$25,000, which the writers revealed ten years later in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. They also revealed that the movie was then purchased by Sundance who put around $100,000 into the film and then Artisan spent around $500,000- $600,000 on re-shoots and sound editing [3]. So the actual budget of the film was somewhere around $750,000. The production costs for Paranormal Activity were around $10,000- $15,000 [4] and the total gross for the film was $107,917,283 [5]. So depending on which figures you want to look at, it's one of these two films. Babbitly (talk) 01:11, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Numbers related to the first weekend for a film are difficult to find. If you instead look at overall film ROI, Paranormal Activty is the highest with just a $15,000 budget and a 539,336.30% return on investment. The Numbers.com lists films by ROI with Paranormal Activity beating out Mad Max and Super Size Me. Surprisingly, the Horror genre isn't the most profitable, but instead Documentaries win over all.
