Gifted movie release date?

[edit]

Hello, Could someone help me with the release date for this film? The article says April 12, as do many other sources...but other sources, including IMDB, say April 7. I cannot find any source for the April 7 date, but IMDB is such a large and well-known source that I'm somewhat hesitant to just dismiss them as wrong. (And I suppose I'm holding out some hope too, as April 7 would work better with my schedule.) However, extensive intermittent research over the past month has failed to turn up any way to reconcile these dates, any way to determine which to believe, or anyone else having the same question.

So my question is this: Is there anyone here at WP that can give me some source on which date to believe? I need to know for my planning, and I would prefer to know as soon as possible, hence why I'm asking for help here. If someone could unravel this confusion, I'd be very grateful. The production company's site says April 12, and if anybody knows, it would be them. Rojomoke (talk) 10:15, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, but on that same page...scroll down a bit on there, and hover the picture of it. It says, "In Select Theaters April 7, Everywhere April 21". 86.20.193.222 (talk) 15:59, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The idea of an opening day is just generally a little tricky to pin down for Hollywood movies. They mostly open on Fridays, though big budget movies seem to like to "cheat" early. The 7th and the 21st are both on Fridays and the 12th is on a Wednesday. Just based on common opening days, the 7/21 combo seems more likely. Matt Deres (talk) 23:41, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I think I got it figured out. Social media links on the Fox Searchlight page led me to a verified Twitter account set up for promotion of the movie, where I found this tweet. It appears that the movie will have a limited release on April 7, followed by a full release on April 21. The April 12 date is apparently a typo that got spread around the Internet, drowning out the real info. The confusion is unraveled, and I am extremely grateful to everyone that helped here. I'll go change the article on the movie now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NealCruco (talkcontribs) 04:49, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This site is a reliable source, and it confirms the April 7 release date. --Viennese Waltz 08:59, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
