"Queen's Gambit" Chinese title

[edit]

Dear Wikipedians:

The Chinese title for the hit Netflix series "Queen's Gambit" is "Posterior Wing Expendable Pawn". Is that a correct translation? Cuz the two don't seem even remotely related to each other.

Thanks,

  • If you translate "Queen" and "Gambit" directly into Chinese, you get nonsense. The chess move, in Chinese, is a description of the move: A wing (side) pawn is offered up as expendable. Because the move has a name in Chinese, the movie is given the same name. It does lose the overall effect of the title because the gender of the title does not relate to the gender of the main character. That happens all the time when translating between languages, especially ones that are not remotely related to one another. 97.82.165.112 (talk) 18:50, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What happen to the "Single Releases by WWE Music Group" section on/of the "WWE Music Group Discography" section? 2600:1702:3860:D290:8012:185F:20A0:1F67 (talk) 22:27, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It was removed in this edit, with edit summary "removing info which fails because of WP:NOTCATALOG and WP:PROMO". If you disagree, take it up at the article's talk page, where a discussion is already going on.  --Lambiam 01:19, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Its not much of a “discussion” that “is already going on” when all of the posts (for lack of a better word) were on/from December 11 then I post something yesterday (December 16) - that hadn’t been responded to - then remove, edit & repost today (December 17). I guess someone could say I hadn’t given enough time but when all previous comments were from the same day & nothing for 5-6 days isn’t much of a “discussion”, that seems more like a 1 & done to me…. 2600:1702:3860:D290:75CE:43DA:C80B:12B7 (talk) 22:46, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
