22ma in music

[edit]

Has 22ma (which means play 3 octaves away) ever been used in music arrangements?? Georgia guy (talk) 15:58, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, it's not mentioned in Extremes of Conventional Music Notation, which does give some examples of 15ma. I can't see that 22ma would ever be useful except possibly where a part has a lot of extreme jumps. AndrewWTaylor (talk) 16:54, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The apps Stave'n'Tabs and NoteWorthy Composer both provide the notation, so perhaps there is some demand, although this may also be out of an excess of precaution.  --Lambiam 13:09, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

1980s British TV drama series about a man searching for his real father

[edit]

I've been racking my brain trying to think of the title of this series. It was British and from the 1980s, and was a drama about a young man trying to track down his father, who for some reason didn't want to be found. I don't remember any of the actors' names, but the man searching had blond hair and travelled around on a motorbike I think. Any ideas? It definitely isn't Travelling Man, which Google keeps suggesting for some reason. --Michig (talk) 18:57, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I found something called Barriers (TV series), which you may as well check out since it meets a few of those criteria. It lacks a motorbike: the blond protagonist's gimmick is playing the flute, but IMDB say that in episode four or so he "has a run-in with a local motorcycle gang". My method for finding this was to search through all the categories like Category:1981 British television series debuts, on the principle that there are a reasonably small number of 80s British TV shows and a lot of them can be skipped over at first glance.  Card Zero  (talk) 23:18, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks - that's it! It appears that someone has uploaded the whole thing to YouTube. By episode 10 he's got his mototrbike. --Michig (talk) 07:18, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
