Why is there only one nominee for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical?

[edit]

Re: Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Is there any particular reason why there was only one nominee this year? Seems odd. I assume there's more to the story? Anyone have any insight? Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 01:24, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like the other nominees from 74th_Tony_Awards#Winners_and_nominees were not added. Another editor looks to be working on that now. RudolfRed (talk) 03:04, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
But, in that specific category, it explicitly states (the only nominee in the category) ... no? Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 15:56, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
According to the Tony website, That is correct. It does not give any reason why. It is the only time it has ever happened. It appears that There were only two eligible actors who could have been nominated anyways, due primarily to the year-long Broadway shutdown due to Covid. --Jayron32 16:42, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ouch! Major burn for the one who wasn't nominated. Clarityfiend (talk) 04:30, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical has only 3 entries, and likely for the same reason as mentioned by Jayron. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots20:13, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
