"Earthly" White savior as in Avatar

[edit]

Is there an 'earthbound' film featuring a white savior in quite the same way as in Avatar - leading the natives to military resistance and victory against hostile white intruders? --KnightMove (talk) 08:18, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lawrence of Arabia might be thought of in this way. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.197.101.71 (talk) 10:30, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, possibly The Last Samurai and Dances with Wolves. --Jayron32 12:47, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
All of the above films are mentioned on the TV Tropes entry for "Mighty Whitey".  Card Zero  (talk) 16:21, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The entry on TV Tropes does not mention specific films.  --Lambiam 18:55, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
They are listed inside the folders at the foot of the page.  Card Zero  (talk) 18:59, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Except Avatar.  --Lambiam 06:30, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's in the second section, "Non-white, fantastic, or raceless examples".  Card Zero  (talk) 14:55, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I stand corrected.  --Lambiam 20:41, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A South Park episode from 2019 making fun of (among several things) the film Avatar was named "Dances with Smurfs", in reference to Dances with Wolves.  --Lambiam 18:55, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Some Tarzan movies would qualify, e.g. Tarzan Triumphs. Clarityfiend (talk) 08:34, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
