English language question

I recently wrote this at List of Asterix characters: "Although despising almost all the adults in the village, she is good friends with the children."

Is "although despising" correct? Should I use "despite" instead, or "although she despises"? Keep in mind English is not my native language, I learned it in school and through use. JIP | Talk 01:40, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's OK as is, but could be better. "Despite" would be a good word, except that "Despite despising" sounds repetitive. How about "Although she despises..." ? SinisterLefty (talk) 01:44, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
