fundito[?] pariter[?] copulari [?] authentico testimonii

[edit]

Anno 1734, 2. Septembris: coram me et testibus patre et matre sponsae, Christiano Heinsch, fratre sponsi, Johanne Georgio Filler, Adamo Sinetz, Johanne Christophoro John, Johanne Josepho Fetter, Elisabetha John, omnibus Bohemis ex praefectura Kamnitz, copulati sunt et matrimonium inierunt Johannes Georgius Heinsch, ex Rheinstorff caelator vitrorum, et Anna Maria Walnerin Viennensis fundito[?] pariter[?] copulari [?] authentico testimonii. Adolphus Wienandt SJ, manu propria.

What is the translation of fundito[?] pariter[?] copulari [?] authentico testimonii? Dr Lol (talk) 15:06, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It might help if you clarify the provenance of this text. The occurrences of "[?]" suggest that this is a transcript by someone who could not make out some words of the original (presumably handwritten) text. The drift is understandable, but fundito is strange. It can mean, "I spill/spread/hurl/utter repeatedly", but that does not seem to fit. It can also mean "you/he/she shall spill/spread/hurl/utter", but that fits even less. Perhaps this is a misreading of funditus, meaning "completely". The ending of testimonii is also strange; there is nothing it can be the possession of, and authentico requires a noun in the dative or ablative. Were these words perhaps abbreviated in the original record? The text funditus pariter copulari authentico testimonio means "to be completely joined together by/according to authentic/original/genuine evidence/attestation/testimony". Another reading could be authenticis testimoniis.  --Lambiam 20:49, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(Edit conflict with Lambiam) Is it a handwritten marriage register? The rest of it is easy enough...
In the year 1734, September 2: before me and the witnesses, the father and mother of the bride, Christian Heinsch, the brother of the groom, Johann Georg Filler, Adam Sinetz, Johann Christoph John, Johan Josef Fetter, Elisabeth John, all Bohemians from the prefecture of Kamnitz, Johann Georg Heinsch, glassmaker from Rheinstorff, and Anna Maria Walnerin of Vienna were joined and entered into matrimony.
But I wonder if there are some abbreviations or misspellings (could "copulari" be "copulati"?). Do you have a picture of the page? Adam Bishop (talk) 21:12, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
