[edit]

I am in a conundrum about what to title this article in mainspace, so I haven't yet moved it from draft. 1) Most sources refer to her by her husband's name, Ngô Bá Thành. 2) Those that recognize that he was a different person call her Madame Ngô Bá Thành or without the accent marks. 3) Some sources follow Vietnamese naming customs and call her Vân, Thanh Vân, or Thanh. 4) Because of the history of obscuring women's identity behind men's identities, it seems just wrong to title the article with her husband's name. 5) Because of the confusion about her name even among the sources, I explained in a note that I have referred to her by surname. 6) I cannot figure out a way to alter the hat note to alert English speakers that the name is in Asian order without it saying to refer to her by first name, which I am not sure what version is correct. 7) The Wikiproject Vietnam seems to be inactive and I do not know of an editor to ask my questions 1st What should the title be? (obviously with a ton of redirects) and 2nd Is there a way to modify the hatnote. Any help will be appreciated. SusunW (talk) 21:58, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, I found a Vietnamese speaker, who advised. SusunW (talk) 12:55, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hungarian translation request

[edit]

I'm hoping that someone can perform a translation on the material here. I tried Google Translate in camera, but it seemed to really be struggling to figure it out. I believe it's the text portion of my grandfather's baptism certificate. Besides the translation itself, I have questions about what's presented. For one, my family surname is Deres and that's clearly on here as, I assume, the father's name, but I note the format is family name then given name for both he and his wife and there's no comma involved. Would that be typical of Hungarian? Matt Deres (talk) 22:58, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hungarian names... -- AnonMoos (talk) 23:01, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
D'oh. I should have guessed we'd have an article. Thanks. Hopefully, someone can help with the translation. Matt Deres (talk) 01:15, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Google Translate seems to handle it perfectly well: [1] 147.234.72.83 (talk) 08:01, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, that looks great - thank you! I was using the camera function and I got... well, it was not as clear as that. Neat! Matt Deres (talk) 19:28, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
