Cigarettes smoked per day

[edit]

How many cigarettes smoked per day 2008vs2014?--78.156.109.166 (talk) 19:47, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not really a question for the Maths reference desk, but this [1] chart from the same source that worldometers cites gives annual data for 2000 and 2009 (5711 billion per year for 2000, 5884 billion per year for 2009). Any data for 2014 would have to be extrapolation. AndyTheGrump (talk) 20:33, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps one should gather data on how many kilograms of tobacco are produced each year. Then estimate how many cigarettes are smoked each year from that data. 202.177.218.59 (talk) 23:52, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
To do that one would also need to know the proportion of tobacco that is consumed as cigarettes, rather than cigars, snuff, snus, chewing tobacco, dipping tobacco etc. Equisetum (talk | contributions) 14:07, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
How many cigarettes were smoked per day in 2008 vs. 2014?--78.156.109.166 (talk) 10:17, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As I have already stated, any data for 2014 will have to be extrapolation - the year has barely started. AndyTheGrump (talk) 16:57, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
