A/C temp at public places

[edit]

I notice there are a lot of public places, such as stores, theaters, and museums, have A/C temps set it as low as around 68 degrees F. While a lot of homes that have A/C on have temps set it at around 10 degrees warmer than this. Why A/C temps at many public places set it as low as around 68 so people there would be cold, especially for those having tanktops and shorts on? Temps at public places are set by bosses while temps at homes are set by homeowners to their comfort level. PlanetStar 02:02, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Essentially because the standard advice for temperature settings was established in the 1960s based on the hypothetical person being a man in a business suit. Offices are generally assumed under that paradigm to be comfortable at 71 degrees F. If people are going to be moving around, the advice would be to chill the area further. Wikipedia's own "Funny Edits" section?

[edit]

A long time ago, I found a group of just plain funny, unorganized stuff on Wikipedia, and I can't find it. I do remember that the warning at the beginning of the page has an upside-down caution sign, maybe purple. Does anybody know where it is? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.176.170.247 (talk) 05:34, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A lot of possibilities at Wikipedia:Silly Things. Also Category:Wikipedia humor. Someguy1221 (talk) 07:05, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like Wikipedia:Best of BJAODN, with an upside-down exclamation point(?) inside a purple triangle. Clarityfiend (talk) 09:49, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
