Wiki registered users

Is it possible to find out whereabouts like continent wise where a or certain wiki registered user comes from? Like can you find their IP address? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:744A:E600:9562:38B1:9037:62FE (talk) 06:50, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No. And that's that's promoted as one of the advantages of registering. You have greater anonymity than an unregistered user. HiLo48 (talk) 07:15, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
But many users include that sort of information on their user page, often in the form of a userbox.--Shantavira|feed me 16:15, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That's a choice. Many don't as well. HiLo48 (talk) 23:43, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
One interesting question could be whether the OP actually has a registered account. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots01:23, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A small group of trusted Wikipedia users (called Checkusers) have a tool that allows them to find the IP addresses recently used by a Wikipedia user account. They may use this only to protect Wikipedia against certain forms of abuse, such as vandalism and sock puppetry.  --Lambiam 19:08, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I asked a question on 27 nov 2018 for all sections related to film and music for 1980s and 1990s, was wondering about whether if I could find out if registered users in view history that worked in those sections if any of them were from Australia? Reason I say this is because im worried if I might've said something and someones put something on there — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:744A:E600:C89F:92A4:338E:9CC5 (talk) 11:09, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, you can't find where the editors are from. RudolfRed (talk) 21:53, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Unless they use an IP and the geolocate is accurate; or if they say or imply on their user page where they are. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots23:50, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
