Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2010 September 10

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thanks for reviewing the article. I appreciate any feedback. I plan to add images as soon as the photographer who wishes to contribute sends lo-res pix of notable buildings. But he seems to be held up—needing to know size. Is there an image size (pixel by pixel or inch by inch) required for posting? I've forward to him what Wikipedia has posted about images. Also, I'd appreciate knowing how to remove the blue box at the beginning of the article. Thanks again.

As a fairly new Wiki contributor I would welcome comments on the layout and contents. Thank you

I would greatly appreciate feedback to the new unreviewed article posted in my user space. It is a biography on Justin Blanchard, an American theater, television, and film actor. I would also appreciate help in moving this biography to mainspace. Thank you!

I would like feedback on a new article I wrote on Arturo C. Porzecanski (born November 2, 1949), an economist who pioneered credit and investment-oriented, field research in emerging markets during his long professional career on Wall Street.

I think you need to add some sections, like this:
==Early life==

which creates a section with 'Early life' as the name. Also, be careful with the tone and language style of the article - they're not meant to sound like advertisements for the article's subject. Chevymontecarlo 06:38, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'd appreciate feedback and the removal of the note at the beginning of the article. I plan to add photos of notable buildings. Working with a photographer on including the images in wikicommons. Thanks for any help.

Please try and add more links to other Wikipedia articles. Also, perhaps also try and add names to the references, like this:
This is the sentence that you are going to verify with a reference. <ref>[http://www.example.com|Reference name goes here!]</ref>

I hope you understand. If you require any further comments, or if you need help, please send me a message. Thank you! Chevymontecarlo 06:35, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New page - and I thought I had listed a request for comments a week ago, but there is no Talk page for the draft article. Gotta say that the Help for this part of creating Wiki pages is a little unclear.

I've added a Biography here for an Australian lawyer. I've cited a bunch of stuff, still interested in any comments etc. that may be forthcoming.

Try and add some names to the references, like this:
<ref>[http://www.bbc.co.uk/news|BBC News]</ref>

Also, consider adding sections to the article, and finally perhaps an infobox. If you need any help with this or any more advice, please send me a message. Thank you. Chevymontecarlo - alt 00:31, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ninjainventor/My_First_Earthquake I wrote an article for an indie band.[edit]

The article does not perfectly follow wikipedia format on discographies, as I don't know how to do so. Please help with that, and if deemed good enough, please upload to mainspace (I'm confused as to how/if I am able to or not).

Ninjainventor (talk) 02:42, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Moving an article into the mainspace is easy - you can just use the 'Move' feature. I think you should maybe add an infobox and use inline citations to display your references correctly. If you need any help with that, please send me a message. Finally, maybe try and add some links to other Wikipedia articles as well. Chevymontecarlo - alt 00:27, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am confused on how to include references in the article. I have multiple reference sources but an example of a formatted referenced website source would be very helpful.

Vanityapp (talk) 13:02, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'll provide an example:
This is the statement that you are going to verify with a reference <ref>[http://www.exampleURL.com|Reference name goes here!]</ref>.

Then, further down the article, create a section and tag, like this:

==References==
{{reflist}}

This will create a list of all the references with <ref> </ref> tags.

As to the rest of the article, I think you need to try and add some sections, and perhaps an infobox. Finally, I think when you do move the article into the mainspace, Vanity (iPhone app) is a better name. I hope all of this is useful, and please send me a message if you have any questions. Thanks.
