Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2011 July 25
I created this article and another one Allen Morris (tennis) in my userspace. Because of that, neither one of them was brought to New Page patrol. - In my very informed and experienced opinion, both articles are the bomb (my word play is genius). But seriously, they're well written and well sourced from one glance. The Military History WikiProject actually has a department devoted just to reviews so you'd be better off asking for content specific help. The Chinese version of Wikipedia already has a page dedicated to the band "Sugar Plum Ferry" (甜梅號). The creation of this page is to initiate and provide some information and translation of that page.

- The trouble I have with this article is that the sourcing is very shoddy. Now, what I mean by that is it's mostly to stuff like blogs and personal sites. MySpace and such cannot be used, at least not to actually go about substantiating content. My suggestion is don't let the language barrier be a turn off: we take sources in all languages. Just make sure to use news articles and official sites that have some process of fact checking or review. You can read more about that (just use it as a reference) at our identifying reliable sources guideline. Also, the images you've posted are unfortunately against policy. Wikipedia is the "free" encyclopedia and part of that means not only that our text is free to use, but the images are too. Album covers and the like aren't "free" because record companies own the rights (think of it like paying for music; they own it—we don't). - So my trouble with this article is that it's lacking: not in sources but in formatting. If you're new to the article writing business here, I don't blame you—formatting is a real pain. Pages use footnotes at Wikipedia to refer to specific sources and make the references from which the composite arises more transparent for our readers. We also often use links to refer to other pages, such as in the header of this review section. I've tagged the article for those two issues which are, in the grand scheme of things, pretty simple fixes. - So, first off: thanks for contributing. Wikipedia suffers from what we refer to as "systemic bias". Not having an article about the second largest internet service provider in South Africa is just one indication of this.
- Now, onto the actual article; it has a number of style issues that aren't exactly fitting. We are an encyclopedia of all sorts, but one binding principle is that articles must be written in a neutral manner. That means we take no stance and must present the information as it stands. The problem here is that we've committed the mistake of only citing the service provider itself. You may want to ask, "Why is that a problem? A company should reliably publish information about itself." I totally agree (if you were going to ask!). The only trouble with that line of reasoning is that it doesn't hold on all occasions. If a company publishes, "We have the fastest internet in South Africa and our results say so," how reliable is that exactly? It's a conflict of interest in putting out truthful, promotional information.
- I won't get into the facets of why that is but as Wikipedia policy stands it's not the best idea to only cite one source. You can read more about that at our identifying reliable sources page. The best idea right now is to go in search for more sources. Try local newspapers or book publications; really, anything that has a reviews process before publication. That means blogs are a bad idea; articles by The Sunday Times a good one.
- Once you get those, I'd start the process by replacing most of the content currently on there (because of the one source, it's mostly written like an advertisement) with information from unbiased, reliable sources. Blurpeace 16:55, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

I have created a new article on Dr. Ravi Gomatam. This is my first new article. I wish to seek feedback on this "new unreviewed article". I hope the references on this page are sufficient to demonstrate wikipedia's "reliable source" and prove that the subject is "notable".
Dr. Ravi Gomatam is a leading scientist in quantum mechanics, with many notable peer reviewed research publications. Many of his publications are available in public domain, through google scholar or through the links on his faculty webpage of the Bhaktivedanta Institute. Several other webpages on wikipedia also refer to Gomatam's work. Thanks in advance for feedback.

Works both as a Zookeeper & Ambassador for the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Schwartz worked with animals for nearly 8 years, before joining the San Diego Zoo. Currently Schwartz has been with the San Diego Zoo for over 10 years. Through those years Schwartz made media appearances with animals throughout San Diego and is now doing national media work for the San Diego Zoo
