Issues to be mediated[edit]

Primary issues (added by the filing party)
  1. I want to change 'Slavic ethnic group' to just 'ethnic group' by removing the word 'Slavic'. Then i want to add next to this sentence another text stating all the ancestral groups.
  2. Steven22 agrees with me that Bulgarians are not only Slavic, but a mixed of multiple ancestral groups, however, he refuses to remove the word 'Slavic' from the first sentence because other Slavic-speaking nations have not removed it too.
  3. My claim is that, the first sentence is misleading because it gives the impression to the readers that Bulgarians are only a Slavic ethnic group, when in fact, Slavic people are just one of the multiple ancestral groups, not the only one.
  4. He agrees that Bulgarians have a diverse cultural and ethnic ancestry, but keeps claiming that if i want to remove 'Slavic' i have to first convince other nations to remove 'Slavic' too.

Parties' agreement to mediation[edit]

  1. Agree. TishoYanchev (talk) 00:06, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Agree if the discussion is arranged at Talk:Slavs, not at Talk:Bulgarians. The discussion about Bulgarians article contains also other parties and we already oppose the removal of 'South Slavic' from the lead sentence proposed by TishoYanchev. But instead of moving the discussion at another page as he is adviced, he continued posting long comments at the talkpage of Bulgarians article without convincing other users for his changes, so everybody keeps repeating there. His proposition is to remove 'Slavic' from the first sentence only because any Slavic ethnic group descends from many ethnic groups. TishoYanchev didn't gain consensus for Bulgarians article, but was offered to propose his changes at Talk:Slavs to affect all Slavic ethnic groups, if he would start a different discussion he may build a consensus with the users. Decision of the Mediation Committee[edit]

  • Reject. Fails to satisfy prerequisite for mediation #5 since conditional acceptances are ordinarily counted as rejects. If this had not been rejected under #5, it would almost certainly been rejected under #9, however. For the Mediation Committee, TransporterMan (TALK) 02:39, 6 December 2017 (UTC) (Chairperson)[reply]
