Issues to be mediated

[edit]
Primary issues (added by the filing party)
  1. There are different churches in christianity, various sects n hinduism and islam, even buddhism and jainism, etc as you are surely aware of.If a sect makes a deliberate citation in a scripture to undermine a rival sect, does that need to be vividly detailed in a common forum like wikipedia at the cost of debasing the religious psyche of the victimized sect?I am a devotee of Lord narasimha, and I feel violated reading such articles on my deity,it hurts my religious belief.Allowing such passages in a public forum would tantamount to religious persecution.
  2. Further,Lord Narasimha is a popular deity in India with the list of temple dedicated to him listed in wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narasimha

As for sharabha, its a stray entity with obscure origin in some scriptures understandably incorporated by some sectarian fanatics under the pretense mentioned above. There is no temples dedicated to him,no following to the best of my knowledge. Now,please read the excerpt from the wikipedia page “sharabha” : "The Shiva Purana mentions:. Shiva then assumed the Sharabha form. Sharabha then attacked Narasimha and seized him up until he was immobilized. He thus quelled Narasimha’s terrifying rage. Narasimha became a devotee of Shiva after being bound by Sharabha.[18][19] Sharabha then decapitated and de-skinned Narasimha so Shiva could wear the hide and lion-head as a garment.[1][9][20] The Linga Purana and Sharabha Upanishad also mention this mutilation and murder of Narasimha. After the mutilation, Vishnu assumed his normal form and retired to his abode, after duly praising Shiva. It was from here on that Shiva came to be known as "Sharabeshamurti" or "Simhagnamurti".[10][20][21]" There seems to be no purpose to this passage other than the one previously mentioned. The whole article is partisan, and fumes hostility between two religious sects. However, since its referenced,i have not made any plea to pull off the article itself. If i were to read Shiva Purana and come across such lines, that would be a different issue. But suffering such articles in a neutral forum like Wikipedia is entirely different. I hope the mediators in wikipedia find wisdom in allowing the removal of the selected gory and grotesque passages unworthy of discussing deities and provide protection to prevent future reverts. Thanking You.

Parties' agreement to mediation

[edit]
  1. Agree. Ankisur2 (talk) 06:43, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Disagree. The user has made hardly any attempt to discuss on Talk:Sharabha#Removal_of_referenced_content.. He has presented no WP:RS contradicting the references or proving the references are false. Only WP:CENSORSHIP and WP:CHERRYPICK is advocated. This is the wrong forum to discuss this. There are no experts of Hinduism here. WikiProject India or a RFC is the right forum to reach out too. Redtigerxyz Talk 11:29, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
