Teahouse invitations[edit]

Here at the Teahouse we like to keep things friendly and personal. The power of invitation is a great tool in making new people feel welcome. This template was created with the visual appeal of the Teahouse in mind combined with the knowledge that a simple, personalized message can go a long way.

Hello, Teahouse! Having an article declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. If you are wondering why your article submission was declined, please post a question at the Articles for creation help desk. If you have any other questions about your editing experience, we'd love to help you at the Teahouse, a friendly space on Wikipedia where experienced editors lend a hand to help new editors like yourself! See you there!

This template is also available to use when declining a submission with the Articles for creation script. Just check the Teahouse box when declining a submission!

Welcome templates (text-based)[edit]

These templates combine the official Teahouse invitation with {{welcome-personal}}. They are all fully Twinkle compatible, check them out! (Note: We reduced the headers to bold text, but they will work when placing the real template.)

Welcome!

Teahouse talkback[edit]

Everyone at the Teahouse should leave talkbacks on other editors's user talk pages when they respond to that user's Teahouse question.

Hello, Teahouse/Host lounge/Templates. Your question has been answered at the Teahouse Q&A board. Feel free to reply there!
Please note that all old questions are archived after 2-3 days of inactivity. Message added by Jtmorgan (talk) 17:55, 25 February 2012 (UTC). (You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{teahouse talkback}} template).[reply]

Teahouse host invite[edit]

Part of the way hosts can be involved in the Teahouse is to welcome experienced editors who visit the Teahouse and answer questions but aren't hosts. You can explain some of the policies that make the Teahouse a friendly and helpful place, and maybe they will want to be hosts as well.

Hi! Teahouse, thanks for visiting the Teahouse! As an experienced editor, your knowledge is very valuable to new editors. Teahouse Hosts help new editors at the Teahouse and beyond. If you'd like to get involved in assisting new editors at the Teahouse, please click here to learn more.

Host welcome/thanks[edit]

Dear Teahouse,

Thank you for volunteering as a Host at the Teahouse. Wikipedia is a community of people working together to make knowledge free. You are an important part of that effort! By joining as a Host, and by following our expectations, you are helping new users to get started here at Wikipedia, and aiding more experienced users who just have a question about how something works. We appreciate your willingness to help!

Here are some links you may find helpful as a Host:

Editors who have signed up as hosts, but who have not contributed at the Teahouse for six months or so may be removed from the list of hosts.

Host decline[edit]

You can use this if a new editor has signed up to be a host, but you don't feel that they have enough experience.

Hi! Teahouse, thank you for volunteering to be a host at the Teahouse. We really appreciate your willingness to help! However, we see that you are pretty new around here and have not edited very much in mainspace yet. It takes a lot of time, background knowledge and patience to answer new editors' questions effectively. So you should probably edit for a while longer before you sign up to be a host. That said, you're still very welcome to answer those questions that you can, and we hope you continue to participate and spread the word about the Teahouse to other new Wikipedians. Come back soon!
