Result is No Consensus, default to Keep. Note from closer: the two discussions seem to point to problems in Template:P-Funk, rather than the nominated templates. Moving forward, a concerted effort to improving that template should result in greater clarity regarding the nominated template. Template:Funkadelic (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Delete as incomplete copy of Template:P-Funk — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 13:59, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Keep - If all of Template:Funkadelic is captured in Template:P-Funk, exactly where in Template:P-Funk is DeWayne "Blackbyrd" McKnight?--Jax 0677 (talk) 15:02, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It is impractical for a template to include every band member, so Template:P-Funk includes only the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. The remainder can be found in List of P-Funk members (linked in the template) or Category:P-Funk members. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 15:23, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Reply - As indicated here, the purpose of a navbox is to navigate between different articles with one click. Even the singles from Parliament and Funkadelic are not listed at Template:P-Funk (if I am mistaken, show me where). Having to go to List of P-Funk members or the discography pages involves one extra step. --Jax 0677 (talk) 00:56, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The discography is linked from {{P-Funk}}. By the way, how did you choose which Funkadelic albums/singles/members to include in the template? — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 01:00, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Merge - I've argued this before. It is redundant. FunkMonk (talk) 17:28, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Comment - I just viewed this page and that page. Neither one contains Template:P-Funk at this time (if I am mistaken show me where). If this is the case, then neither Template:Funkadelic nor Template:Parliament (band) can be deleted with Template:P-Funk being in its current form. If these templates should not have been created, then Template:P-Funk should have contained all of the member, album and song articles in the first place. I will repeat what I stated before, without Template:Funkadelic and Template:Parliament (band), all of the songs and members will not be DIRECTLY linked by navboxes. This is EXACTLY what a navbox is for, to eliminate the step of having to go to a separate article list to bounce between articles. I placed in the navboxes whatever articles I had time to insert. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:53, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Comment - My point is that if ALL of the Funkadelic and Parliament songs and musicians are not in Template:P-Funk, then Template:Funkadelic and/or Template:Parliament (band) should likely remain. As indicated above, "It is impractical for a template to include every band member" (referring only to "Template:P-Funk"). I feel that Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars and Malik Shabazz went off topic with their latest comments here. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:22, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

that redirect is in List of P-Funk members, which should be put in the above section of Template:P-Funk. problem solved. Frietjes (talk) 23:34, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Reply - No, the problem is not solved until you can get between the two articles with one easy step, which is exactly what a navbox is for. --Jax 0677 (talk) 01:26, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, you're complaining about a navbox not containing all possible links, yet you regularly create incomplete navboxes and have no problem doing so. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:07, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly. Jax 0677, if you want to make a Parliament template, include all of Parliament's albums and singles, or don't bother creating the template at all. Don't put in a half-way effort just to check it off your to-do list. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 05:45, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reply - Banner, I ask again , if all of Template:Funkadelic is captured in Template:P-Funk, exactly where in Template:P-Funk is DeWayne "Blackbyrd" McKnight? If all of Template:Parliament (band) is contained within Template:P-Funk, exactly where in Template:P-Funk are Tawl Ross and Tiki Fulwood? Additionally, there are songs, musicians and albums in Template:Funkadelic and Template:Parliament (band) that are not contained within Template:P-Funk. Template:P-Funk now has sixteen "groups", and if my memory serves me correctly, the limit on the number of "groups" is twenty. Adding the members, live albums, compilations and singles for both bands would put this number up to 24. Many musicians have one template for the bulk of their information, and one template for their singles. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this at all. Assuming my work is "sloppy", WP:POORLY covers this.
If this question can not be answered with a legitimate location, the template should likely remain. --Jax 0677 (talk) 01:16, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like Jax has an excuse for everything. Too bad he can't put as much time in the navboxes he creates as he does trying to defend them. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 19:50, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Reply - The preceeding comment has nothing to do with whether or not a navbox should exist. I have done my best to answer all of the questions posed in this TfD, yet many of my questions have not been answered legitimately. If there is confidence that my template should be deleted, then people should answer my questions directly instead of avoiding them (unless of course the answers are none of my business, in which case people should explain why). --Jax 0677 (talk) 22:58, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Keep simply because P-Funk is way too big. It should be split up, and this template (while needing cleanup to remove redlinks, etc) is a start. — This, that, and the other (talk) 11:12, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
