This part of the website gives 404 errors. I suggest orphaning and deleting. ‑‑Trialpears (talk) 11:01, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- Correction: every page except for the home page appears to be suffering from 404 errors. I do not see any indication that the site is being shut down. It looks like the site is undergoing a redesign or other maintenance. I recommend that we give the site some time to fix their navigation issues before we scrap a template that links to some very useful information (when it's working). Moreover, instead of eliminating the template, an alternate database that contains similar information should be found, and the template redirect to the new database instead. After all, that was a part of the point in creating this type of template: a means to quickly and (mostly) effortlessly keep links fresh as sites change their structure. —Willscrlt ( Talk | com | b:en | meta ) 20:53, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- Willscrlt, perhaps deletion in 6 months if the problem persist? That was the outcome of another recent discussion. While the link was valuable when it was working it's s bad experience for readers to be directed to a page that they can't access. ‑‑Trialpears (talk) 01:42, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
- Trialpears, that sounds reasonable. It should be pretty easy to tweak the template if it was desirable to display a warning (indicating a possibly broken link), but that probably would not conform to en:wiki's style guide for links. —Willscrlt ( Talk | com | b:en | meta ) 22:54, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
- Willscrlt, we have
{{dead link}}
for that? ‑‑Trialpears (talk) 23:46, 14 December 2019 (UTC)- Thanks Trialpears. I have added the dead link template to the template. I also noinclude'd the TfD so it doesn't horribly mess up the appearance on transcluded pages. If that satisfies everyone, then can we close this TfD as Keep for at least 6 months and hope that they get their system working during that time? —Willscrlt ( Talk | com | b:en | meta ) 04:01, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

- Trialpears and User:Willscrlt, I switched it to use an archive link, which should avoid dead links until the site is stable again. Frietjes (talk) 16:13, 17 December 2019 (UTC)

Unused external link template with destination website shutdown. ‑‑Trialpears (talk) 10:16, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- delete {{IRC NQIM}}, {{IRC CQNS}}, and {{IRC CQIM}}. keep {{IRC NQNS}} since it is being used, and no other rationale has been given. Frietjes (talk) 23:44, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
- Frietjes, I have had a look at NQNS again and see that it's now working. I also checked the internet archive and saw that it's been non functional in the past as well with the June snapshot being blank, working in August, dead when I looked 10 December and now working two weeks later. I would consider this "not reliably functional" and therefore recommended against by WP:ELNO #13. Since there are plenty of substitutes in Category:Internet Relay Chat external link templates I still think it should be deleted after being replaced with a more suitable template. ‑‑Trialpears (talk) 23:56, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
