Unused templates relating to ballet. There are a total of 20 of these templates at Category:Ballet templates but this nomination only covers 7 unused ones. The others are used at sub-pages of User:Robertgreer/sandbox/NYCB. Following this TfD: Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2012 February 19#Ballet multicolumn formatting templates and this AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of New York City Ballet 2012 repertory, the articles that used these have, I believe, all been deleted. Another of these was deleted recently Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2021 December 3#Template:Pas de onze 5W6M. Nigej (talk) 18:53, 30 January 2022 (UTC).[reply]

I understand the intention with which this was created but worry that the benefits of this sparsely-used template are outweighed by at least two issues. First, I don't think we should be adding a specific template to the talk pages of users that we think are young children. Second, there is a possibility that the recipient will interpret the second paragraph as a prompt to confirm whether they are a young child, which they should not do if they actually are. Using one of the generic welcome templates and taking a more discreet approach would be preferable. DanCherek (talk) 15:27, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm leaning delete in support of nom's argument of outing a young editor. It might be worth adding a line about young editors to the standard template. Gonnym (talk) 15:35, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Delete Not keen. As noted, it might be used to try and get a response from a child, exactly the opposite of its intention. Nigej (talk) 20:43, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Intended to provide a standard 2 links in the below section of submarine templates, but is unused since all the templates in Category:United Kingdom submarine templates: {{A class submarine (1903)}}, etc. have the 2 links hardwired. Nigej (talk) 12:32, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. It might have been useful if used while creating the other templates, but since they are already using hardcoded links, and the links themselves should be stable, there isn't really a compelling argument to use this. Gonnym (talk) 15:33, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is the second time this has been nominated after the last one went unopposed before being closed. The main gist is that the contents of this template have been absorbed into the larger Template:Musical techniques. Why? I Ask (talk) 12:07, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sidebars containing mostly external links. However WP:SIDEBAR specficially says "external links should not be included in navigation templates." I know we're trying to provide a public service but this is not the way. A sidebar is ... "a grouping of links used in multiple related articles to facilitate navigation between those articles in Wikipedia". These are nothing like that. Nigej (talk) 11:58, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I agree with nom here. These sidebar templates aren't navigation templates and their external link usage seems very out of place. Unless a compelling argument is made, I'm leaning delete here. Gonnym (talk) 23:26, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
and the use of "plainlinks" to hide the fact that they're external links is particularly poor IMO Nigej (talk) 16:01, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
