  • Comment I'd say keep and convert to a navbox. There is no real reason for a sidebar. All links, except for 2005 Burundian constitutional referendum because there is no mention of the subject in the article, are related. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 23:49, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unused maps of Asia. While these make up a series of templates, it doesn't make sense to not have these used after the long period they weren't created. If kept, it should at least find a few uses in articles. WikiCleanerMan (talk) 18:04, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Comment by the creator: OK to delete Template:Asia in 100 BCE and Template:Eurasia 1205 CE as they are not in use, but please Keep the others ("Continental Asia in..." templates and Template:South Asia in 50 CE) as they are being used and are part of a series. पाटलिपुत्र (Pataliputra) (talk) 05:48, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Keep Template:Continental Asia in 1 CE, Template:Continental Asia in 1900 CE, Template:Continental Asia in 2000 CE as part of a maintained series but lacking transclusions at the moment. Delete the other three as unmaintained per creator above. Folly Mox (talk) 19:14, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @SWinxy: The point is that these maps are interactive (clickable): they can be used to navigate easily and visually between the different cultures/polities and time periods. The history of Continental Asia is extremely complex, and this kind of template helps navigate the complexity. Of course it is possibly to create a "PrintScreen" version when needed (as in Golden Horde for example), but it's inconvenient for navigation (of course) and much harder to modify when needed... पाटलिपुत्र (Pataliputra) (talk) 17:41, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The ability to interact doesn't give many benefits, in my view. Take the 1900 CE map: the fixed size (300px) cause the text to become too small to be able to be seen for me, and I can't click the image to see it larger. I don't think it's useful to be linking to places like the Russian Empire or the British Raj either--it's not like readers wouldn't know where to go to learn more, even if they've never heard of it. Since they're all political divisions in history, I don't foresee modifications for them being necessary. It's nbd that they're kept. I just prefer images! :) SWinxy (talk) 18:05, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There are no images at the moment. The image File:Map Asia physical (continental).png is just a topographical map—the templates are what gives it the labels. I'd see a weak keep for a largely net positive navigational tool. Aza24 (talk) 23:12, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I do like the clicky links (saves time from typing things in), and on my device I can easily pinch zoom to enlarge the maps if I can't read / click a thing.
It would be nice if the documentation were updated to include a list of all templates that are members of the series (Category:Asia map templates has 81 members in the Template: namespace). If we're going to have the discussion about whether this type of map with an overlay of clickable internal links generated by template is a useful format to display this information, I don't think the TfD for a narrow subset of the full series is the best place for it. Template:WAFLW Sub[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more templates or modules. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the template's talk page or in a deletion review).

The result of the discussion was no consensus. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 13:19, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No transclusions, documentation, or incoming links. The content is a simple wikilink. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:59, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep part of a long established set of shorthand templates (see the other sub cats of Category:Australian rules football leagues templates), that in this case allow for the future easy change in target if/when separate sections or articles are created specifically for the women's team, either within the main club article or standalone. This one now has a transclusion, but even if it didn't, it is useful as a subst to get the correct link. The-Pope (talk) 17:14, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It does not make sense to have a template for a single link and a single template for each team. If you want to use a template to link to teams in a league and make it easy to change the link when a women's team article is created, something similar to {{Rugby union team}} should work fine. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:03, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It does not make sense to complain about a single template when it is one of 70 or more similar templates as listed in the category I linked above. If you want to propose to delete them all and use a single parametered template, then you should propose that, not do it via a backdoor of a relatively new (women's) club. And as also I mentioned above, I often use these with the subst command, so you wouldn't know that I used it in an article. The-Pope (talk) 17:26, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom - unused, trivial syntax. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:40, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Pppery. SWinxy (talk) 19:10, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep and mass-nominate all the like templates if you want. This template should live or die alongside its siblings. No reason to pick specifically on this one. 120.150.121.92 (talk) 09:27, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Izno (talk) 19:15, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Agree that this isn't the ideal way to handle what the template is used for, and a single parameterised template should replace everything in Category:Australian rules football leagues templates. I also agree that there's no reason to address only this specific template while leaving the other 70 alone (although something like Template:WAFL Fre, which generates a link to Fremantle Football Club (1882–1886), seems prima facie more useful since that way people don't have to remember establishment and disestablishment dates for all these historical entities).
Of course if the template is always substed it will appear unused no matter how much use it actually sees. Folly Mox (talk) 21:05, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The rest can be bulk-nominated after this one closes. Deleting one can bring way to deleting the rest. SWinxy (talk) 23:49, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • weak keep, now used. I would, however, agree with deleting/merging the entire lot. however, the "no transclusions" argument has been eliminated for this one. Frietjes (talk) 14:19, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is a link template for a dead website. The SSDI rootsweb site has been shut down, attempting to access it will just result in you being redirected to ancestry.com. I don't know if the links here were archived or are recoverable, as the template makes links to search pages. I'm not sure what the best path forward is here, deleting outright? Substituting the templates and tagging as a dead link? 192.76.8.91 (talk) 02:22, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. Evidently ancestry.com does not support SSN as a search term, unless I'm missing something (first time using the site). This template has 44 transclusions. The first one I checked, Chase Clements, had a malformed search link, swapping the first and last names. When I was able to locate the [applicable record] (Wikipedia Library link; sorry 192), it was sourced to Findagrave, which I know we consider unreliable as UGC.
No idea how widespread issues like this are with the articles transcluding this template, but with the low transclusion number manual cleanup should be possible. Folly Mox (talk) 17:15, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Folly Mox Ancestry.com do claim to have the Social Security Death Index database [1], but it is behind a paywall (I don't have access).
I'm not sure what the best path forward is here, fixing these templates will probably take a lot of work because they link to search results, rather than the record - we'll have to relocate the records from scratch. 192.76.8.91 (talk) 19:14, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, after temporarily overcoming my own stupidity, I tried entering the SSN from this template's call on Chase Clements in the Keyword field on ancestry.com and it immediately brought up the correct record, with a death date sourced to "The Social Security Administration Death Master File", which seems a much more authoritative source than Findagrave (I hope the maintainer at the US Social Security Administration has "Death Master" on their business cards). (Business cards are still a thing, right?)
So yeah, the 44 articles transcluding this template will take a bit of work to put right, but it's not insurmountable. Someone with a whole afternoon to spend and Wikipedia Library access could probably knock it all out in a single sesh. I've just updated Chase Clements with the actual link and citation information as provided by the ancestry.com source. It should be easily copypastable to the other 43 articles once the correct URLs are located. Folly Mox (talk) 19:38, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've somewhat reduced the transclusion count of this template. Otto Frederick Hunziker calls it five times (not yet addressed). Got bored after Jacob Levin (chess player), where literally every citation with a URL was problematic or broken, and took me half an hour to fix.
Removing all uses of this template through regular editing is certainly doable but I need a break. Folly Mox (talk) 14:44, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
