Part of the village downtown

Briarcliff Manor is a suburban village in Westchester County, New York, less than 30 miles (48 km) north of New York City. It is on the east bank of the Hudson River, geographically shared by the towns of Mount Pleasant and Ossining. Briarcliff Manor includes the communities of Scarborough and Chilmark, and is served by the Scarborough station of the Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line. In the early 19th century, the area was known as Whitson's Corners. Walter William Law moved to the area and purchased lands during the 1890s; he also developed the village, establishing schools, churches, parks and the Briarcliff Lodge. Briarcliff Manor was incorporated as a village in 1902, and has grown from 331 people when established to 7,867 in the 2010 census. Briarcliff Manor is primarily residential and its population is relatively wealthy. It has about 180 acres (73 ha) of recreational facilities and parks, all accessible to the public. The village has an elected local government, with departments including police, fire, recreation, and public works. It has a low crime rate: a 2012 study found it had the second-lowest in the state. • Reasons for nomination: October 19th if possible (The Analytical Review request doesn't mention a date, could that possibly be moved to another date?), October 19th is the date of the largest annual Briarcliff Manor-Scarborough Historical Society event; if not, then November 21st? It's out of the 30 day nom. requirement and competing with Sega 32X, but it is the village's incorporation date. This was my first FA (passed not one week ago), and would be my first FA to appear at TFA, and I have added stubs of the article in a few languages and improved the page on a few others.

  • Support, user's first TFA, we could move Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/Analytical Review to the next day 20 October 2014. — Cirt (talk) 20:40, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support – I agree with Cirt. This is ɱ's first today's featured article nomination, and it should be featured prominently to display all his hard work to get the article from start-class to FA-class. Besides, this is a recent FA; I don't see why this should not be on the Main Page quickly. – Epicgenius (talk) 01:45, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support – I agree that this FA should be TFA on October 19th, if at all possible. It would be a most appropriate day. The Briarcliff Manor-Scarborough Historical Society is having an annual dinner on that date and this would be an honor to both Briarcliff Manor and to user ɱ. – User:ajfeist 4:34, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
