8	Wonka (film)	701,240	Charlie and the Chocolate Factory already inspired two hit movies, so now there's an attempt at a prequel telling Willy Wonka's beginnings as a chocolatier, starring Timothée Chalamet. Praised by reviewers as great family picture with impressive production values and another catchy soundtrack, Wonka arrives in North America one week after being released in 37 countries, and is expected to debut atop the box office.
9	Premier League	643,562	The latest season of English football keeps on rolling. Arsenal F.C. are currently leading, and hoping they won't choke in the final rounds like last season, specially to give the resonance of another title in the 20th anniversary of their unbeaten championship.
10	List of highest-grossing Indian films	626,796	#1 is currently ninth on this list with ₹859.53 crore, while also being the third 2023 release to enter the top 10.
11	Shane MacGowan	558,882	One more week for the recently deceased Irish punk who was the frontman for The Pogues.
12	Killers of the Flower Moon (film)	546,461	This October release made the AFI's 2023 Top Ten list this week, making more people seek this page or rent the movie on video on demand.
13	Taylor Swift	537,891	Her birthday was on December 13, and by coincidence she is #13 on this list.
14	Tripti Dimri	533,022	This Indian actress's small role (slightly larger than a cameo appearance) in #1 was apparently a "treat to look out for", leading to loads of Wikipedia views and Instagram followers.
15	Ketamine	518,080	Matthew Perry's toxicological report was released, and the actor's death was attributed to this anesthetic, which he was taking as part of a treatment, and that combined with coronary artery disease led to unconsciousness and subsequent drowning in a bathtub. In his autobiography, Perry wrote about how he received ketamine injections during rehab, noting it caused intense relaxation but a terrible 'aftertaste' ("Taking K is like being hit in the head with a giant happy shovel. But the hangover was rough and outweighed the shovel.").

18	Godzilla Minus One	490,775	As Japan's iconic kaiju approaches his 70th anniversary, his 37th film sees a would-be kamikaze in postwar Japan deciding to confront the giant radioactive dinosaur, in a gripping film featuring some impressive imagery considering a budget much smaller than the American Godzilla (who will return next year, still alongside King Kong). Tellingly, Godzilla Minus One received great reviews, with a few critics downright considering it one of the year's best movies, and has earned over four times its costs with $60 million worldwide.

20	Agnès Varda	474,340	A Google doodle this week and the Viva Varda! exhibit at Cinémathèque Française through January honors the Belgian-born French artist, photographer, and filmmaker.
