Back to your Sandbox

When you have selected an article to translate and had it approved by your instructor, you're ready to start translating.

Copy the original-language article and paste it into your sandbox but don't save yet. Make sure to include links, citations, and the list of sources. Again, it is crucial that you not miss this step: you must provide copyright attribution before saving. But it is not difficult:

  1. Before you save the content of the foreign article you have pasted, find the edit summary field.
  2. There, provide a statement of your translation, together with an interlanguage link to the source (translated-from) article.
  3. Example (using French): Content in this edit is translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution.
  4. Now you may save the page.

Now you can translate your article.
