[edit]

I just added a couple of references to this article. Are these sufficient? Can I add a picture to this article as well? Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/Book Galleria — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bookgalleria (talkcontribs) 06:13, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, these references are not sufficient- the first has a trivial amount of information, as far as I can tell, the second is not independent, and thus he does not fulfill notability criteria. Go ahead and add a picture, and see the the tutorial on doing so. A412 (TalkC) 20:56, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm asking the same question as everyone else about reliable sources. Can you tell me what is wrong with my sources. My first source goes right to where I want. BUT, my second source will not, because the web page uses "sessions" and will time-out after a certain amount of time. Then you just get an error page. I'm not sure how to make the page come up or if I even can with the sessions for that website. Also, do I have enough sources? Thank you

You have explained how to access the source (via a search), so that is probably adequate. The sourcing is still insufficient, because it is clearly a trademarked product and will need strong evidence that it is sufficiently notable for Wikipedia. Sionk (talk) 13:25, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't get why this article is being refused, what does "it looks like Wiki mean but where did I get it from mean??"

It's written out by me, & the sources are listed below in detail, Wiki hasn't got an entry for this person, who is of historical interest, so .... what's the problem exactly here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bardrick (talkcontribs) 10:52, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand the 'decline' message either! However, Wikipedia needs to have proof that the subject is 'notable' enough before we can accept your article. I believe the notability criteria for military officers has been written by the Wikipedia Military History Project and, from what I can see of your article, Buckle isn't sufficiently important to meet the criteria. In effect, all you've done is list someone's military career history. Sionk (talk) 02:14, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed the 'decline' reason to something that identifies the major problem (no pun intended). Sionk (talk) 02:19, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

Thanks for reviewing the article I submitted. I noticed the article was rejected because of unreliable sources. The two sources I used actually were references to the statements in the article. So the statement I made about managementboek.nl, I referred to the correct page at managementboek.nl. The statement about Harvard Business Review, I referred to the correct page on hbr.org.

Can you tell me how that is unreliable? The only reason I can think of myself is that you don't want any references to primary sources, but only to sources that verify the actual source?

Or would it help not to make them citations, but another category? Trying to understand and get through my first article. Will help greatly with further comments!

Thanks, Casper CasperJB (talk) 11:48, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WP:AUTHOR describes the Wikipedia criteria that has to be passed to demonstrate that an author is 'notable' enough for Wikipedia. Often, authors become notable when they have written a well reviewed, or important book. You seem to have guessed correctly, that we need to see evidence of independent, reliable, in-depth coverage about Buytendijk (or one of his books). Simple proving that he (or his books) exists is not adequate. Sionk (talk) 13:42, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. May I please discover if the article I submitted today about 3 books by Bruce B. Baker will be in Wikipedia? Thank you, Jutta Seitz.BruceBarryBaker (talk) 11:49, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is currently a long backlog at AfC and it is taking several days before articles are reviewed. However, I can guarantee your article will be refused at the moment, because it lacks proof that these books are WP:NBOOK notable in any sense. Generally, books need to have been reviewed/talked about in multiple, independent, reliable sources before they are suitable for a Wikipedia article. Sionk (talk) 13:33, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

This question is regarding the following article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Solidarity_Across_Borders

I am really trying to get my article posted, but I don't know why I can't use the original source? Almost all the wikipedia pages that I have read about organizations cite from the organizations' main website...

Please help, I really want to get my page published — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sumi2227 (talkcontribs) 16:00, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

When you say "original source", you are referring to the official website, right? If so, then you can cite from it at certain times. However, because the organization is obviously not completely neutral about itself, it is not considered "independent" and so doesn't carry much weight when establishing notability. For that, you'll need reliable, independent sources like news articles, books or magazines - generally anything with editorial control. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 03:29, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
