February 19[edit]

Hi,

thank you for the feedback.

The reviewer wrote:

"should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. "

none of 5 references given is related in any way to myself. all these 5 are independent references. how many references are required for such a short article? What are specific changes required? It would be useful to have some specific points, applied specifically to the article written, rather than general comments on the basis of which 50% of articles in Wikipedia can be declined.

I look very much forward to further details on this.

Thank you very much, Vadym — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vadym.bereza (talkcontribs) 01:20, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the problem was that it reads like an advertisement. I'll look at and fix it in about 10 minutes. A412 (TalkC) 03:36, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I want to create a new Article in the English Wikipedia. The new article is a translation of an existing page in the Japanese Language Wikipedia page. Isn't it sufficient enough to site the Japanese page in the reference section with out repeatedly making inline citations referencing the Japanese language page?

Or, is there a special way to go about adding translated articles from foreign language Wikipedia pages?

Thank you for your time~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ben Grafstrom (talkcontribs) 04:05, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, there is not a method to do that. The references must be manually added into the inline references. A412 (TalkC) 04:11, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You need to import the available references on the Japanese article to the English article, or find other references. You cannot cite Japanese Wikipedia as a source. Best, CharlieEchoTango (contact) 09:31, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sirs, This submission is to be added to the Wikipedia article for Chetopa, Kansas. George Lisle was the founder of Chetopa and this story supports the start of that city. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Soonermedia (talkcontribs) 05:57, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your article needs to have complete citations, the Tulsa World and Chetopa Advance are not enough information to verify what is written. Please see WP:REFB  :- ) DCS 08:35, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Citations[edit]

How do I create citations correctly?

Thanks

Have you tried reading Referencing for beginners (particularly the section on refToolbar)? If there's anything on that page you don't get, feel free to ask. wctaiwan (talk) 12:21, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

edit for about 4 time, how to do that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theronnie811 (talkcontribs) 12:11, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is the company notable? We can only have articles on subjects are notable—that is, they meet the criteria explained at WP:VRS.
  • If the company is not notable, it is likely that even if you try to create an article, it'd very quickly be deleted. In this case, the best suggestion we can offer is usually to just work on other things for now.
  • If it is notable , you need to show us by citing multiple sources that are independent (not connected to the company) and reliable (newspaper / magazine articles, usually. Baidu Baike and Wikipedia are not reliable, because anyone can edit them).
If you need anything else, just ask. wctaiwan (talk) 12:18, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I don't know what to do about the reviewer suggestions.

Léo Ferré is one of the greatest French singer-songwriters of all times, it seemed worthy to mo to create an article about a piece of his work (the last one), as you do for every other great musician.

Furthermore, Arthur Rimbaud is not an obscure poet. To get "the importance or significance of the subject", you can check the Arthur Rimbaud's page or the Une saison en enfer one. As wikipedia shows, this poet influenced moderns singers-songwriters like Bob Dylan or Patti Smith. So it is interesting in an encyclopedia to show what kind of influence he allthough had on a natural French-spoken artist. Is there something more to say?

And actually I gave a published source "reliable and independent" (is it because it's in French that it is not ok?). So, what can we do?

Thank you for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.224.28.42 (talk) 22:25, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You may want to have a look at WP:NALBUMS regarding the notability of albums.  Notability in not inherited, the album by itself must be notable.  If the sources are reliable and independent and in French, there should not be a problem.  If they are not independent and reliable, the language does not matter.  :- ) DCS 23:03, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Well, you say that he influenced Dylan and Smith...that's great, but what about this album? Remember that just because an artist has an article doesn't mean that every one of their albums needs one, although they usually do. So what's important about this specific album? If you can explain that (and yes, more sources would definitely help) you'll have a much better shot at this being accepted. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 23:05, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(French speaker here), definitely notable, plenty of GNG to go around. CharlieEchoTango (contact) 23:07, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Fantastic. I was in the process of looking for a French speaker to search; I'll keep you in mind for future projects ;) Nolelover Talk·Contribs 23:10, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
