March 12[edit]

Um, I'm a bit confused as to why the subject of my article is insufficiently notable. He was an ordinary man who won the MC in WW1 yet managed to survive the War. I have linked to the citation, to WW1 medal roll index cards at The National Archives, as well as to Scotland's People where his vital records may be accessed. Since there is a category for MC winners, why shouldn't he be in it?

Hello Quothquhan- Welcome to the Articles for Creation Help desk. I would request you to visit notability guideline for biography and make changes accordingly. Following your query over notability, I feel he is notable but notability is not well established in the submission and this led the reviewer to decline the submission page.
I would request you to be more clear while citing your sources (better if you provide a url) for the purpose the quick verification. Like, <ref name="ScotlandPeople" /> doesn't help to verify anything. What is this "ScotlandPeople" source? A newspaper/book/magazine/journal/etc.? Likewise, <ref>Supplement to The Edinburgh Gazette, 17 October 1918, page 3790.</ref>, Is "Supplement to The Edinburgh Gazette" title of the gazette or title of the section of the gazette you are citing as a reference? Page no. 3790 is the total no. of pages of the gazette or the particular page no. that mention the claims you made in your submission page? See also, WP:Your first article and How to cite your sources. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 09:58, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

I'm clicking "save changes" but my article is not being submitted for review. How do I submit it for review please?

Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LaurenVL (talkcontribs) 02:59, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello LaurenVL/IP 95.97.18.64- I noticed, there is a green link "Submit your draft when you are ready for it to be reviewed" at the bottom of the box present on the top of the submission page. If you click this link, your submission would be queued to be reviewed. Manually, if you put {{subst:submit}} at the top of the submission page, it'd be queued to be reviewed. Thank you! I have a question about my new wikipedia page, because it's declined again. I am wondering if the links in the text and external links are ok now?

This is the page: Articles for creation/Haagsche Zwaan — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.97.18.64 (talk) 08:51, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello IP 95.97.18.64- Welcome the Articles for Creation Help desk. Your submission Haagsche Zwaan is declined because it is improperly sourced. There are some help links given in the red-decline-box at the top of the submission page to improve your submission. Beside, "improperly sourced" concern, notability doesn't seem to established by sources present in the "External links" section. You are requested to find some "wp:secondary, wp:independent and wp:reliable sources that discuss the subject in detail" and cite them in the body of the article (See, referencing for beginners). Anupmehra -Let's talk! 10:15, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'd like to know which links are not correct. Could you tell me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.97.18.64 (talk) 10:26, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, I find most of the sources are "home-page" of some websites and doesn't even the subject. In short, every link that doesn't mention the subject/content of the submission is not appropriate to be cited in the body of the article and if necessary, should be place under "External links" section. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 10:50, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ahaaaa, I think I understand! And an external link can be the home-page of a website? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.97.18.64 (talk) 12:09, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, An external link can be home-page of websites related to the subject. However, it doesn't resolve notability and improperly sourcing issues. Read again my first comment. Thank you! Anupmehra -Let's talk! 12:34, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikipedia,

It has been my pleasure and honour to post information about Czech author Zdenek Hanka to Wikipedia. Since I don't want to brake any rules, I am truly grateful for your assistance in this process and I appreciate very much your guidance. Please, let me know, if there is any further information required and I will be happy to provide you with it.

Thank you very much for any help you may provide. Sincerely

Ivka 83

Hello Ivka83- Welcome to the Articles for Creation Help desk. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I notice, your submission is a biography of living person having zero inline citation. You are requested to cite your sources in the body of the article. Citations help to identify the reliable sources on which an article is based. See, referencing for beginners. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 13:24, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can you tell me where I went wrong with my submission of Planetlivechat?

Thank you PLCPlanetlivechat1 (talk) 13:17, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Planetlivechat1- Welcome to the Articles for Creation Help desk. I noticed your submission Planetlivechat is an unsourced submission page and it has been declined once for notability cause. You are advised to find wp:secondary, wp:independent and wp:reliable sources that discuss the subject in detail and cite them in the body of the article. See, notability guideline for websites and referencing for beginners. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 13:30, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, so I had previously submitted this article for creation. I was working for Life Care Funding and a number of our clients and partners requested we make information available on Wikipedia. I now work for a different company (Q Capital Strategies) but I feel strongly that there ought to be a mere company page up for Life Care Funding (no different from any other company's entry) and I do believe there ought to be a blurb about their program on the Life Settlement Wikipedia page (because their 'long term care benefit plan' protects Medicaid and Veteran's Aid&Attendance eligibility while decreasing the pressure on said federally funded welfare programs).

I was absolutely 'swinging for the fence' for my first two submissions (and I mistakenly assumed the Wikipedia community would work with the material I made available). I agree that it was laden with marketing connotations, but the core information would be valuable to Wikipedia's readers who are trying to cover long term care costs with ever decreasing resources.

Are there any editors who work on business pages or life insurance/life settlement topics that I could reach out to?

Thank you for your time and consideration! Burnsdrake (talk) 15:08, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Burnsdrake, I think a chat with the folks at WP:WikiProject Finance might be useful, I believe they cover topics such as insurance. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 15:43, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Roger, thank you so much. I will absolutely inquire with WP:WikiProject Finance. Best, Burnsdrake (talk) 15:56, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

May I know what else I have done incorrectly re https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Josh_Mahinay ?

I would like it to be excellent, and apparently, it is not.

Am pretty confident about both the article content and formatting for Family Estrangement, but.....

  • Re citing: I don’t understand the duplication of footnotes in the Reference section. Did I do it right? Does that come off the page in publication?

Thanks,

Because you have (correctly) used inline citations for your references, you do not need to list the same references again in the References section itself. If you remove these from the References section, they will still appear there because of the inline citations. I have removed one as an example. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 11:29, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This article was declined once for the want of additional sources particulary inline citations. Yet after providing suggestions at my talk page, there were slight improvements. But the creator of the article removed the contents and blanked the page before copying the contents and published the same into mainspace at Liu Yiming. Since there was no justification provided in blanking while at AfC stage, i restored the page placing the submission tag too on behalf of the creator. As the Liu Yiming article, was created before blanking at AfC, it was tagged with {{copypaste}} template with AfC link, yet the user removed the template providing a improper edit summary. Hope someone could take time in re-reviewing at AfC and at mainspace as well. --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ) 19:41, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestions and additional links for the article I prepaper. I have followed your advice and added these links, which has certainly enriched the contents of the article. Re the selectedpublications part, I prefer to follow the model of Steven T. Bramwell's Wiki page and use the format * cite for the scientific publications and not the footnotes. Otherwise the list will be too long and miscellaneous. Hope that you will find my modifictaions acceptable.

Again, Thank you sincerely for your help on improving the article (the goal is to publish the Wiki as a present for A. Bouzdine's 60th anniversary on the coming Sunday).
