@Economics-NYU: The backlog is about a month for most articles. As long as your articles and their subjects meet WP:BIO you should be good to go. Make sure you understand what sources are considered reliable and independent. On a second note, your username appears to violate our policy on names that represent groups and organizations (WP:ORGNAME), specifically the New York University Department of Economics. @Economics-NYU: Since you are autoconfirmed you can move your articles directly from the "Draft:" namespace to the main namespace yourself without submitting them for review (a "move" option should appear under the "More" menu in the upper right). However, note that articles created that way that don't meet Wikipedia's standards are usually deleted, not just declined and sent back for more editing. --Ahecht (TALK

I was prompted to write the article about the Warminster Lions Club by the realisation that the Android Wikipedia App 'Nearby' button would alert people to our Bookshop's existence. The material is, as remarked on in the Reviewers comments, based on the Club's Website: however I am the author of that material anyway (I am currently the President of the Club) so there isn't, in my view, a copyright issue here. I would be grateful to know what sort of content I should include in the Wikipedia article in order for it to be acceptable. Hello Digby. The copyright issue could be worked round if you wished to freely license the text of which you are the author, as explained in Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. However, it is probably best not to go down that route, because the material on your own website, complete with "phone us on (number)" and similar exhortations, is not suitable to be an article in an encyclopedia.
Take a look at recognised Wikipedia Good Articles on charitable, non-profit and service organisations, for example Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore, Merseyside Skeptics Society, LatinoJustice PRLDEF, or Loyal Order of Moose to see what sort of content is needed for an encyclopedia and how to structure and reference it.
An article about your club would not need to be so lengthy or detailed as those articles, but it would need sufficient references to detailed discussion of your club in independent reliable sources to meet the requirements of Wikipedia:VRS. There is a possibility that a charitable club in a relatively small town might never be able to meet those requirements, in which case you would be wasting time that might be better spent promoting the club in other ways. I realize we took a while to update this page, but I logged in today and it looks like someone has taken the liberty to do so for us. While I don't mind because we've been exceptionally busy here at the museum and I have been finding it difficult to revise, I do have some minor changes I would want to note should this draft be approved. Also, is it normal for someone from Wikipedia do this? So, my questions are as follows:

@Kathyweed: Wikipedia is a crowd-sourced encyclopedia. It is not a place to host a website, no owns the content, and articles aren't "approved" as they are always in flux. Anyone can edit almost anything and everything. You can thank Anne Delong for improving the draft and re-submitting it rather than allowing it to be deleted as a stale draft. To that end, I caution you against making "improvements" that will further delay acceptance. But yes, you and everyone else can edit the draft now and in the future assuming it ever gets accepted. I am really not sure what I am doing wrong. My references are:

Hello. You need to cite your references properly by using the appropriate tags. You can find out about using these tags at WP:CITATIONS. When we're reviewing your article, we really don't know what the references are backing up in your article. If you source your article properly, we can advise you better on how to improve your article. Biographies of living people have a higher standard of sources, therefore you must get as many sources as possible in order to prove notability. The last thing we want is the article being accepted and then being proposed for deletion. You can make as many claims as you want in a Wikipedia article, but these all must be backed up with independent and reliable sources. To address the notability concern, the subject must have done something significant in order to be included on Wikipedia. If you get sources to prove his notability, then the article will be accepted by the reviewers. st170etalk 18:41, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
