Yashi Yadav (talk) 12:13, 3 April 2018 (UTC) Why my contribution nominated for deletion/[reply]

I think this should be here for people who google or finds him on wiki.

i am disappointed

- Yashi Yadav - The article has been nominated for deletion. However, we aren't really the place to be able to do much to help. The article has been placed in mainspace, and is not under the Articles for creation remit, as we deal with the acception of draft articles. However, the subject Chandan saxena doesn't seem like a notable figure, and is very unlikely to pass General Notability Guidelines, or WP:CREATIVE.
This is also not just a nomination for deletion, but a discussion over deletion. You can see the deletion discussion, and comment on it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chandan saxena. You will need to prove why the article needs to be on Wikipedia. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:28, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

13:27:51, 3 April 2018 review of submission by JLL87[edit]

Good day,

I have submitted an article for review but have yet to include images. Wrote the article on behalf of an organisation and they would like to give permission to use images from their website, but I notice that the copyright agreement gives use to any party for any reason whatsoever. Is there any agreement that just gives permission to Wikipedia? JLL87 (talk) 13:27, 3 April 2018 (UTC)JeffLuk87[reply]

JLL87 (talk) 13:27, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@JLL87:. Images can only be placed in drafts if they are completely free images. Unless the company uploads the images to WikiMedia, (IE, free for literally anyone to use), they can't be used on drafts. However, non-free images (like the ones you suggested earlier), could be used if the article was no longer a draft, so I would concentrate on that. I haven't reviewed the article, but it does seem to have an awful lot of WP:PRIMARY sources; and whilst primary sources are usable, it may cause issues regarding getting the article published. You will need to get the article to pass General Notability Guidelines; which requires Significant coverage in secondary reliable sources. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 13:49, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Jll877, non-free images can only be used if they satisfy all 10 of the Non-free content criteria. This can be tricky. But in any case, get the draft into shape to be accepted as an article first, then worry about images, whether free or non-free. That is my advice. 14:44:35, 3 April 2018 review of submission by TimBello[edit]

TimBello (talk) 14:44, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DESiegel, you just deleted my draft (Remix Awards) because "it violates Copyrights"? Please help, those were references, no? (This submission appears to be taken from http://www.youredm.com/2017/02/19/check-nominees-2017-remix-awards/, http://dancingastronaut.com/2017/02/2017-remix-awards-announce-nominees-mmw-event/)

TimBello, Draft:Remix Awards has been restored, it was deleted in error. In future, please ping me if you want my attention here, or post on my user talk page, as you did this time. My apologies for the error. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 17:51, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

17:39:35, 3 April 2018 review of submission by Nina07011960[edit]

Hello. How do I upload a photo to a page/article? Nina07011960 (talk) 17:39, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nina07011960. Adding an image is a two-step process: first upload it, then use it in on a page.
Go to Commons:First steps and carefully step through the tutorial. When you get to "First steps/Uploading files", don't dive in too hastily. First follow the link on that page to learn about the different licensing options. Other useful advance reading includes Wikipedia:File names and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images, which will prepare you to answer important questions the upload wizard will ask you. If after that you have any questions or doubts, Commons has its own help desk.
Once you've uploaded an image, the picture tutorial can guide you through how to use it on a page. --Worldbruce (talk) 01:12, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

17:50:58, 3 April 2018 review of submission by Blake13971[edit]

If I am the owner of the material, am I able to publish it?

Blake13971 (talk) 17:50, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you own the copyright (which is not the same as owning the physical document), Blake13971, you can release it under a free license, and that makes it usable on Wikipedia as far as copyright is concerned. You would need to follow the steps at Donating Copyrighted Materiel. However, most outside text is not written with our neutrality principal in mind. That means it may well not be suitable for inclusion in an article. Everything depends on the specific text and the particular article. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 18:02, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
