Request on 00:42:39, 8 May 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Kcw78[edit]

Hello, I submitted an entry about Shake Russell. (He's a Texas musician, and needs to be on Wiki.) My submission was rejected by the reviewer [Shadowowl] because of references to discogs.org. The comment the reviewer left was: Discogs and his own site are not reliable references.

I provided links to Shake Russell's website for most of his discography. Unfortunately, he doesn't list his oldest albums (from the mid-70s, and no longer available), so I also referenced discogs.org. The links include images of the albums, so are accurate when it comes to songs.

How do I address this difference in opinion about the "reliable sources"? Should I delete the reference? Seems a shame since discogs help me find some music I was previously unaware of.

Thanks, -Ken

If nobody but discogs and Shake's own website talks about him, that's pretty much solid proof that he is not notable as we define the term here. Where is the substantial coverage in national and regional publications? If there isn't any, then it's just too soon. (And by the way, saying somebody "needs to be on Wiki" starts to stink a bit of promotional intent; and also shows an ignorance of the distinction between Wikipedia and wikis as a type of website. --Orange Mike | Talk 02:03, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Check my article pls thank you Kuyaphong (talk) 06:49, 8 May 2018

Kuyaphong - Not all subjects are notable. We need in-depth reliable sources to provide information on the subject. I did a quick search, and it doesn't seem like the game is notable at all. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:57, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello does somebody can help me to publish 2 articles from France about Mino Montanari and Claudia Montanari? Thank you very much--Mammaroma5 (talk) 13:14, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The one in your sandbox shows nothing that suggests this subject needs a wikipedia page. Legacypac (talk) 15:20, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Did anyone actually read the referenced Page? I spent a lot of time writing it. First, there are references beyond his page and discogs. They are referenced simply to provide album titles and release dates. There are links to a Houston Chronicle article. Regarding "should be on Wiki", consider his accomplishments. He has won a number of songwriting awards:

  • Texas Music Awards Entertainer of the Year: 2004, 2008, and 2011
  • Texas Music Awards: 2013 Lifetime Achievement Honors
  • Texas Music Singer Songwriter Hall of Fame: 2016 inductee
  • 2 time recipient of the BMI “Million Air” award for Clint Black’s recordings
  • 4-time recipient of the BMI Writer’s Award

His songs have been recorded by:

  • Waylon Jennings & Jessi Colter (“Deep in the West”)
  • Ricky Skaggs (“You’ve Got a Lover”)
  • Clint Black (“Put Yourself in My Shoes” and “One More Payment”)
  • Miranda Lambert ("You Wouldn't Know Me")
  • Carolyn Dawn Johnson (“Our Kind of Love”)

Artists like this don't get much coverage in the mainstream press. So, where do you suggest I look for appropriate references?

Already posted on the talkpage. Discuss there. Legacypac (talk) 15:18, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I HAD A PAGE DELETED AS IT "READ LIKE AN ADVERTISEMENT". I HAVE NOT POSTED MY NEW DRAFT YET BUT HAVE EXTENSIVELY REWRITTEN IT, ADDED OUTSIDE, VERIFIABLE SOURCES AND AM PREPARING TO PUBLISH AGAIN ONCE I KNOW HOW TO PROCEED. DO I JUST PUBLISH OR DO I HAVE TO CONTACT THE PERSON THAT FLAGGED IT BEFORE? PLEASE ADVISE. Idea:[1] under G11 will give you the answer. You should see under the draft which admin deleted, contact him / her / they first for an email copy of old draft , see how that draft diff from your current one and will it get deleted again, if not, just resubmit.
